But I haven't played out in 15 years, and I'd like to jam, but my chops are for shit as compared to Von's, I'm sure! Ern

Ern doesn't have his location posted so I don't know where he lives...On the other hand, I think everyone who cares knows I'm in Studio City... So, where are you Ern?

My parents are both 'Boomers' and I can tell ya, I learned a lot of cool stuff from them, especially when it came to music. They listened to stuff in just about every genre that was available in the '50s-'80s around the house when I growing up.Hadn't been for my HIPPY parents, I wouldn't developed such a broad taste in music. Stuff like: Jean-Paul Rampal, Herbie Mann, CSN(Y), Phillip Glass, Kitaro, Brewer, Shipley and Weeds, Bread, Alan Parsons, Walter/Wendy Carlos, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, ELO, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer and the list just goes on and on and on...I went further and discovered electronica, techno, jazz and lot of other stuff on my own later. IGod Bless Hippies! Love Ya All!

weslong,Yes, I wonder who ever came up with the idea that a new musical style is ALWAYS better than musical styles that came years before? The fact is, sometimes it is better, sometimes it is worse. It's cool to like any music you like.Glad you found a rich variety. Cool folks, your parents.

Alimony -Just went on your myspace and listened to your 4 songs. Good ideas here and there, yeah you're right it's not mainstream. Quality of mix is pretty average (but then again it's hard to hear on myspace).Had lots of clients like you who thought they were the S#!T, it's funny how some rappers/beatmakers think they are better than everybody. That's a bit why I decided to get off rap and hiphop, because of the negativity guys like you sweat.Don't lose all your time on your equipment and work on yourself a bit.Ben

Take an old genre, add a new twist and they call it a 'new genre'- World music, for example.Anyway, this guy who started this thread seems to think only his new, cutting-edge bit is the way to go but in actuality, he doesn't realize the relationships between the different styles and genres and they influence one another. He's sort of boxing himself in creatively which means eventually he'll run out of gas in the composition department.Ah well, I gotta run. Another day on the hamster wheel...

It looks as though I struck a cord here on this (Forum) with my recent comments...Frankly, in a way, I’m glad to have done it. I’m glad because I got to see that there are people here with real feelings. Good to see. I’m big on that myself. Not only that, but I may have brought some of you out of your shells when I poked you. Good? No? Sorry if I hurt your feelings. I love Hippies too, by the way. I only used that as a description to your being in them (Shells) because the world has forgotten how cool you all are, and with that you’ve turned your backs on US… I haven’t seen you reaching or looking back. Feel me? I thought I was obeying the rules of this site by posting where I have. That to me was my way of showing respect. I’ll admit that I became frustrated when after 4 years of doing so I had received very little in the way of help, advice, ect. Anyways, life’s a Bitch and I sing about it, so that’s my pain. I share it with the world naked. Allen

You might think you've woken a few people up, but I can assure you, all your thread did was re-establish members reasons why they like it here. So for that, thank you. But it has been a quite a busy place, while you were off thinking we were a predictable and boring lot... Re-read your thread, before you make anymore assumptions about people's willingness to help you. We're all still here. Have you ever really been contributing?
