Hi Vikki,Though I was not at the 2006 Rally, I was at the 2004 Rally but I don't clearly recall how it was done there. I didn't realize it was one CD/song per panel for this year's Rally-- I thought we could submit one song per genre per panel. Was I mistaken? (I only submitted one song per panel.) If that was the case, we must wonder why there were so many clearly misplaced CD's? (I mean, clearly in the wrong genre?) So I was starting to wonder if people just submitted songs for each panel, even if their genre wasn't represented...I know one young man who's songs have been played THREE times (no kidding!) at the Rally's (not at the same Rally though), and I'm starting to think that if you drop them in at the end (before they go up to panel), you might have a better chance of getting played. Okay, so maybe that should be keep as our secret so everyone doesn't try to pile in at the end?! Maybe there's a better way? Now that we're on the topic of the panels again, I would have liked to have heard a panel of songs that were forwarded, for example. Or songs that were placed, etc. I think when the music was a little "off", it was clear to most of us, and that was less useful for me. I wanted to hear more of the good stuff celebrated with everyone there. Ah... off my soapbox. Back to work...Raags

Back to work...RaagsThe first panel (about screening), which included Matt Hirt & Dave Walton, did play forwarded and placed music. If you heard it and then compared what you heard the rest of the Rally you would have gotten a good idea of just how high the bar is. In addition, on this board, those folks who are willing to share their forwarded music post in the "Forwards" and "Deals" section.It's my understanding that members were only allowed to enter one song per panel, and some panels were only listening to specific genres. If people can't even put their song in the appropriate genre box at the Rally it makes you wonder what they're thinking.This was my third Rally and I've entered songs into every panel and never been played. It's just the luck of the draw. However, I had the opportunity to speak with at least 14 mentors and 13 of them took a CD from me.And, by the way, it would be impossible to have a panel that played forwarded or placed music for the reasons that Michael details on another thread - it's impossible to get permission from the writers. You can't play music without it. That's why we have the "Forward" section on the board, which is voluntary.Hummin'bird.

Dear Hummin'bird,I was only at part of the first panel, so I must have missed most of the "forwarded" song plays. I'm glad they did that, and I'll look for it next time. I was thinking that members with forwarded songs would be the ones to put their CD in the panel box (as they do now, wherever it's appropriate), but I do see the problem of the permission to play if that isn't done. That's great that so many panel members took CD's from you. Keep us posted what comes of that too. That's such a great part about the TAXI Rally's-- you are up front and close, right there, with the people of influence in the music industry. What a great opportunity for all of us!Raags
