I'm takin' the high road over this discussion (and someone's gettin' off light......ning).... I think it's got a shot (it got my vote!) and it's a huge accomplishment to jes get to the top 20. Rayne's voice really adds a huge element to it. Very hot! I also wanted to say that Perry, if you're singing on your country tunes.......dude, your voice jes flat DOES it for me. Choice, choice pipes, dude and really strong country tunes. Well done!

Man, I've been missing out on all the fun! I did notice Ontario trying to stir it up about me over on the JPF board under the name "airun". But I missed all this stuff. I guess I've been too busy trying to do my day job (employment lawyer) and continue to participate on the AI boards, etc. Been around the net saying "hi" and hoping to get some votes out. ;-) I hope Ontario is simply stating his opinion, which is totally cool, and not upset that I did not respond to his PM (which came before any of this top 20 business) asking me to co-write with him. Sorry I did not have time to get back to you, Ontario, but I am thinking it probably wouldn't have been a great working relationship anyway. I am just curious, though, you criticized my "The Song I Didn't Write", claiming it was a "dime a dozen" kind of song (which opinion I asked for, so I have no problem with you expressing it). You are whining here about "e" rhymes, etc. in "You Believed In Me." Why on earth would you want to write with such a crappy songwriter? was it a sort of charity thing--like you were going to educate me? Just did not get it.Peace,PerryOh, and Squids, I wish that were my voice, but it is Jeff Carson-- a great country singer who had a couple of hits in the 90's (and a real nice guy). Tahnks for the comments on the tunes. My singers make my songs much better than they are without them, that's for sure (i.e., as I have said, I have no doubt that my AI song would have been overlooked but for Logan (Audio) Rayne Pepper doing such a great job!)

So, there were 2.5 million votes last year for songs and you think no one has a chance because people on songwriting message boards might rate my song a 10 because they want to support me? I am no math major, but seriously. Also, you seem to assume that everyone will simply go vote 1s for every other song and 10 for mine (wouldn't kill me if this happened, but I am not that unrealistic).

OH, btw, in case you DIDN'T notice, ontario, I took the high road. Wish I could've said the same about you in your PM.

I belong to several songwriting boards, and Perry is a member of two of them. On those two boards, the person/people who are in the top 20 are getting kudoos for making it that far. It's an achievement that deserves our support. And this why we are here, to support each other, not to put each other down. Vote, don't vote, vote for something else. But the purpose of this thread is to CONGRATULATE PERRY for making it so far. If you can't say something nice about his achievement, then say nothing at all.Kudoos, Perry. I hope you win!Hummin'bird

You're wrong hummingbird, this thread was here before he made the top twentySo it was about critiquing, Yeah perry you could learn a few things from me hell even reading a songwriting book or people who've written a little longer than you have and Sure this contest worked for you so far and you made it in the top 20, its still a big deal and probably the biggest chance you'll ever have of making a lot of money, If you do win, I'm sure people will be calling you asking you to send more songs, Will you be a one hit wonder? I guess we'll seeBut that doesn't mean you should have an ego the size of Texas and nowhere on any boards do I see any act of being humblePeople on other forums are even calling you out and complaining about you begging for votes so sure one can look at that as good marketing but another person can see that as you not being confident enough in your own song that it could standout on its own without you telling everyone and their grandma to vote for it and for them to vote every other song a 1, come on dude have some prideI'll probably get attacked by the minions in here but it needed to be said and I said itListen to Sara Bareilles - Love song psmitty, it's not exactly like yours but its close enough to the concept plus its a current international hit, also check Rascal Flatts- The words I didn't sayIt is a good song though after listening to it again I just think it'll be an indie, which isnt bad either but who knows maybe if you get your big break it could be a major cut
