I have been very happy with my setup: Wordpress, for the pages and MacHighway for the hosting. I have the $50/year package and haven't had any issues yet - but I don't get a lot of traffic either.

But I can highly recommend both.

It's been a while since I researched this, (last I looked, it was cheaper to get a domain name and hosting separately, heh, and 1and1 have jacked up their rates quite a bit ) here's a very good, multi-part article that'll hep you to the issues involved: http://www.consumersearch.com/web-hosting/review

I was just checking my email inbox and I realized that I should pass this information along for anyone considering purchasing a domain and/or hosting. I get lots of promotional emails from GoDaddy, probably every other day, where they have discounts for these items like 25% off, 30%, 40% and even 50% off. I rarely look at them because like I said I buy my hosting in 2 year blocks for all of my websites. In order to get these promotions all you have to do is have a user account with GoDaddy (completely free).

Hi Raymy, you didn't mention if you are interested in the templated hosting or not. It is true that they can be a bit cookie cutter, and not as cheap as some of the other options, but they sure are easy to use. That's why I use one! :D

There are several companies you can do this through. I use and like Bandvista. You can do a one month free trial, and they have payment options so you can pay monthly, quarterly, or yearly (the yearly is of course the cheapest, averaging out to $10.85 a month) which is great if you just want to try them out for awhile. Some of the others are Reverbnations's Site Builder, Hostbaby, and Bandzoogle

Thanks all. Looks like I have some research to do.

Haneiji - I am looking for the templated type as I have no web design experience.

Well, I wouldn't recommend their free software, and if you're the sort that may ever actually need tech support, you may find them wanting, but they certainly ain't alone in that department.
Their interface is a disgrace compared to others. Ever tried transfering a domain?
Notifications when domains expire?
Basicaly get hosting with the cpanel interface....industry standard.
eg try hostgator.com
