I don't think people are being judgmental...I think we're just surprised you didn't post here before your purchase...
Users tend to be a better source of unbiased information and real world opinions about a product than the product's manufacturer. Kind of obvious when you think about it.

Not that i think Spectrasonic was trying to mislead you. Omnisphere is a great product and one that would be useful in the production of almost any type of music...but...it wouldn't be the right product to play every instrument in any type of music.
The same goes for Stylus RMX...great rhythm instrument, useful in almost any kind of music...but not your one stop source for every rhythm need you will ever have...

I can only recommend using this forum to gather information on a product before purchasing...it will save you lots of grief and money.
Because in a sense what you're complaining about is that you bought this fantastic professional acoustic guitar which you were told could be used in almost any type of production...but it doesn't work right running thru a Marshall amp turned up to 11...

And then you're calling people judgmental for going "well, uhm...DUH!!"... ;) :D

Just my judgmental 2 c... ;)

It's hard to understand how you could get to expect Brass patches in Omnisphere? As far as I can tell, nothing indicated that in advance.. like Mazz, Matto and others have said, Omnisphere is not a meat & potatoes sampler like Kontakt. It's a synth, and a d... great one, if I may add!

If you need brass samples, look for eg. Vir2 Mojo Horns, Chris Hein's stuff, NI Kontakt has pretty good patches, there's a great extension pack for NI Kore. For more synthezised brass, there are some in Sample Logic's Elements. Well, lot's of options, but if they don't say it's there.. there's no reason to expect it to be there ;)

As the guy who posted the most flippant response, I'd like to call a halt to the piling on, and just note, for the sake of perspective, that Omnisphere is under $500 and if you like brass, there's always Broadway Big Band, which is available for Kontakt, and lists for only $2495.00. ;)

Interestingly, Wallander's WIVI offerings have recently become more affordable.

Once again, I am not complaining... I did not need to ask the Taxi members, because I talked to the makers of the damn thing... Hind sight is always 20/20 I did inquire before I purchased but, you don't know what you don't know.

Even "Reason" has a brass section, fruity loops has a brass section and they do not cost as much. To repeat myself, It is inconceivable to me, that this product does not even touch on the "Brass Section"

Sometimes You guys are really Pompous.

Honestly I think people are being pretty gentle with you and seem to be wanting to genuinely respond to your comments. It doesn't make sense to put a thread on a public forum and then not expect to get some responses to it, for better or worse. Almost kind of like buying something without asking the right questions like: "Does this thing have brass samples?".

That probably came off as kind of pompous, but actually more incredulous than anything because it's hard to believe that this conversation has even gone this far.

Good luck with your next purchase.

Why did you start this thread then?
I was certainly not judgmental or pompous in my last post.

Best regards and I hope you will have a lot of fun with this product anyway. It's a kick ass machine for contemporary music, that's for sure!

You are really going for the direct ones, aren't you. Well, nothing wrong with "pompous". In fact I make a living off of it! Some can handle pompous, some can't

And those brass sections are comically useless. In fact, unless you buy a library that is really dedicated to brass and is fairly high end, your brass will sound fake and lame. They did you a favor by not including any. ;)

Greatmoves,

If you take away from this thread that there's a difference between general purpose workstation VIs that try to be all things to all people, and VIs that cover a narrower spectrum in more depth and with a higher quality sound...and that professional users are a better source of unbiased information about a product than the manufacturer (who obviously wants to sell you the product)...then I will gladly tolerate being called judgmental and pompous in the process... :D :D
