Quote:Most psychologists agree that people do what they to change the way they feel or the way they fell about themselves. What is it you want to feel? If you got forwarded...just imagine that...what do you want to feel? Important? appreciated? loved? more money? more of the other sex?....I am curious...And are you able to feel that feeling before being forwarded? Perhaps that would help you attract that reality! Lets get the big souls in here to answer this! Well, here I am waiting for the heater to kick off in my basement before I can do some recording and have some time to kill so.. sure, I'll play.Well... money and sex are certainly in my top motives.. although you forgot power and influence. Maybe those are covered under 'important'. Which explains why, with so few forwards, I have so little of the rest.)I mean.. it's a means to an end. If i want to get music into avenues that will pay me money (which is certainly the reason I've been working for the last 25 years... and I'm not getting much money, sex or power out of that either.. although I do have my own desk.).. the the doorway to getting the music there is a forward... well, that's why it's important. And while none of my forwards have translated into a phone call, it's hope. Forwards = hope. Rejections = no hope and frustration.Well.. heater's off for now. Time to go knock out some recording while there's silence.

Quote:I'm in the same frame of mind as chits.... I want the lucky break that will change my life and make me a hit songwriter.... not only the money, but the prestige.... however, unlike chits, the idea of giving the money away after working and waiting so long isn't on my list.... rather... it means I'd have more money and free time to go out and kill and eat fish..... yum yum.....ArkJackThat's cool too, AJ. As far as I'm concerned, any motive for wanting a foward is okay. What a wonderful hobby we have, and for some now, it's a living. Can't ask for better than that....it's the spice 'o life.

For every single reason you or anyone else listed. Not like there is a single reason. The personal challenge factor certainly contributes. Who does not want fame, respect, wealth, power, nubile nymphs, self-satisfaction? You can scratch the self-satisfaction if you have the nubile nymphs. Ahem...

OK, here's the truth. My entire life, everybody told me I couldn't do this and I'd never do that and I was kidding myself thinking I was any good at this (read: "anything"). I'm talking my parents, my sisters, my best friends, EVERYBODY.Forwards are: just one more step on my path to accomplishing what I have always dreamed I was capable of...another way of proving to myself that I wasn't wrong all those years...and another reason to keep believing that Music (the one and -just about- ONLY thing that's never let me down) and I have a future together. Not to mention proof that I may actually be able to make some money from the stuff I write. That's the beginnings of "dream into reality". Even if I never make a dime from any of this as long as I live, Forwards are a pat on the back from someone in the know (who I don't even know) to confirm that I'm not terrible at this. Now I feel like I'm rambling, but I think you get where I was heading with this.Or, in a nut shell... Because they make me feel better about myself, YES. Ted

Hi Ted,I can relate to what you ( and the others are saying).... but I believe in two things whole heartedly ..1. If you stop dreaming ( and working toward that dream ) then you've most likely have died.2. " Make no small plans for they excite no magic in the souls of man,"the bottom line is " If you don't make it happen, it just ain't going to happen. I stopped listening to that "you will never speech" years ago... I figured out that those people are actually afraid you will succeed. So yeah, forwards are an important step to achieving each of our goals. With Taxi and ( getting forwards) you increase your chances of goal realization by probably 10000:1. Weigh the cost of Taxi membership and what it would cost to hire a manager or to do it yourself.... it's a no brainer...I recently joined Taxi too... and am anxiously waiting for my first forward... Santa you out there,, are you listening!!!Bob

I'm a Buddhist. That's not exactly a Buddhist philosophy but it's cute!
