Why do you want to be forwarded?

Post by paradise » Sat Nov 03, 2007 1:35 am

Hello everyoneI know it sounds like a silly question but really why do you want to get forwarded? Most psychologists agree that people do what they to change the way they feel or the way they fell about themselves. What is it you want to feel? If you got forwarded...just imagine that...what do you want to feel? Important? appreciated? loved? more money? more of the other sex?....I am curious...And are you able to feel that feeling before being forwarded? Perhaps that would help you attract that reality! Lets get the big souls in here to answer this!

Are you hoping to feel more important, appreciated, loved?" Uh, no, they're trying to sell a copier. On the altruistic side of things, if no one shared their music, their art, their poetry with the world... the Mozarts, the Rembrants, the Emily Dickenson's of the world all chose keep their passion to themselves, if everyone chose to do that, the world would be a dull, grey place would it not? We all have been given a rare gift. Personally, I came back to music and chose to pursue it because I didn't want to live my life having squandered such a gift.

Ahh, psychology. I love it! I could give you the story about how I've been starved for attention all my life, except my music career would prove me a liar, so I'll jes tell the truth and shame the devil. I want a forward because it provides me with an opportunity to make connections in the industry. I know it's a subjective business. And I'm a firm believer that, if I'm honest with myself, for every person who's gonna tell me I'm pretty good, I need to give equal time to those who don't think I'm worth beans. So now I try not to pay much attention either way and jes keep my head down, nose to the grindstone. But in my soul, I'm with Dave about honoring our gifts.Good question.

I think it's better not to be forwarded. Then you have someone to blame if you are not successful.** JOKE ** Casey

forwards are now for me just a step in "getting a placement" (...earn money with my music).this was diffrent when I was trying to get my first forward .... "..can I get it..?". that happened pretty fast, so that isn't a question anymore;)

A forward means I'm one step - or perhaps one song - closer to my goal. It means my music got past the gatekeepers and that my solicitated submission will be heard by someone seeking music like that. It means my composition and production have leaped over the bar. And yes, that makes me happy because I've passed another signpost on my journey... but the trip isn't over, returns or forwards. It is about approval in the sense that my submission met all the criteria - and I for one know how difficult that can be. I don't think there's any shame or any psychological downfall to having the tenacity to stick to your guns, the willingness to learn & grow, and make friends along the way.Hummin'bird

That may sound pretty base, but I'd love to have a good retirement and give to charities that are near and dear to my heart. I'm past the point of 'wanting to say things to people' with my music, although it's very nice when people are touched by your lyrics. That does make me feel good. I'm also a realist, and I realize that 'striking it rich' with regard to the music biz is just that, a fantasy. But it's nice to dream.

I just joined Taxi so I have no forwards - what a forward would mean to me though is that my song touched somebody (i.e. the screener) and has the potential of touching many more. This, in turn, would mean that I have become a better songwriter than I was. My ultimate fantasy is to become a full time songwriter (with no dayjob- no no no no) and therefore a forward would also mean being one step closer to my goal.Jchitty - I like your honesty

I'm in the same frame of mind as chits.... I want the lucky break that will change my life and make me a hit songwriter.... not only the money, but the prestige.... however, unlike chits, the idea of giving the money away after working and waiting so long isn't on my list.... rather... it means I'd have more money and free time to go out and kill and eat fish..... yum yum.....ArkJack
