Ol' Sgt. Pepper won't go away!On the vinyl record, Lennon suggested that they put a 15 khz whistle to "perk up the dogs" after the final 40+ second piano chord. They actually did that, before a recording of gibberish in the concentric groove. Some people who have played the concentric groove gibberish in reverse say it reveals a Very naughty message, although Geoff Emerick insisted there was no hidden meaning.Re-pressings of the LP did not include this stuff, but the 1987 CD release does have both. Another point about the complexity article is instrumentation. Perhaps the reason pop music has only 5 or 6 parts is due to the "not enough instruments=boring, too many instruments=chaos" dichotomy. Pop music has the happy medium. In another article on creative people it said that we're a group with more mental problems than the rest of the population. However among creatives musicians are the healthiest; better than artists and other creatives. We commit the least amount of suicide among the different groups.Perhaps it was in the same study it said, unmarried people are more creative than married. Also, male composers have less testosterone than the rest of the male population. Female composers have more testosterone than the rest of the female population. We lean toward androgeny. Help!!!

That first article was saying that people who have composing careers tend to start with the big picture and work down toward the details. Amateurs do the opposite. Pros are able to conceive of and write several parts simultaneously taking into account how they interrelate. Amateurs write one bar at a time. Have you ever seen those online personality tests? Where they tell you're an infp or an entj etc... I'm an infp. I bet a lot of us are or close to it. It said to start with the big picture which comes naturally anyway and then use a random process to spark ideas. The Beatles seemed to use everything from their lives to spark ideas. Gongchime.

White Album Trivia Time! While the Beatles were recording the White Album, George Martin hired an assistant, Chris Thomas. George Martin decided to go on a vacation in late summer of '68, and told Chris "Make yourself available to the Beatles."Chris Thomas: "It took a while for the Beatles to accept me. Paul was the first one to walk in --- I was sitting in the corner wearing a suit and tie! --- and he said 'What are you doing here?'. I felt such an idiot, but managed to blurt 'Didn't George tell you?' 'No.' 'Well, George has suggested I come down and help out.' Paul's reply was 'Well, if you wanna produce us you can produce us. If you don't, we might just tell you to f**k off!' That was encouragement? I couldn't speak after that ---"Thomas "produced" Helter Skelter, Glass Onion, I Will, Birthday, and Piggies. So what do you think of our sweet Paulie now? Ern
