Amazing how just those titles bring back a slew of memories, watching those children's shows as a kid... Mr. Grinch, yeah. Since we're headed for 50 now, I'll toss a few more in the barrel. Now my head is really starting to spin, and I can't get these songs out of my head. Darn it! I think I'm going mad... "Holly Jolly Christmas""Toyland""The Holly and the Ivy""It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year""All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth""Angels We Have Heard On High""I'll Be Home For Christmas""O Come, All Ye Faithful""Up On The Housetop"

There's No Place Like Home For the HolidaysI have been hearing a lot of remakes of "Last Christmas" (George Michael) this year.I also heard a great song this week by the precursor of Five Star Iris - Another Man Down - "The Dreidel Song". Although I guess technically it's not a Christmas Song.

A lot of great Christmas songs are probably not classics yet. I feel the best criteria are the test of time and/or overwhelming popularity. The songwriter of Grandma Got Ran Over...has so far made $5,000,000 off the song. I read an interview where he gave that number. I didn't find out if he owns the publishing to it. But he could, because he is a very astute promoter and businessman. 1. Jingle Bells2. Hark the Heald Angels3. Joy To The World4. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen5. It Came Upon A Midnight Clear6. Little Town Of Bethlehem7. Away In A Manger8. Twelve Days Of Christmas9. Silent Night10. Good King Wencelas sp.11. Do You Hear What I Hear12. O Christmas Tree13. Jingle Bell Rock *14. Let It Snow*15. All I Want For Christmas *16. Santa Clause Is Coming To Town *17. Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer *16. Winter Wonderland *19. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause *20. White Christmas *21. Blue Christmas *22. Frosty The Snowman *23. The Christmas Song *24. Felice Navidad *25. Grandma Got Ran Over By A Reindeer *26. Silver Bells *27. It's Beginning To Look A Lot like Christmas *28. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas *29. Sleigh Ride *30. We Three Kings31. O Holy Night32. O Come Emmanuel33. What Child Is This34. The First Noel35, Little Drummer Boy36. So that's why "Grandma Got Run Over..." got included-- I figured it had made a load, but hadn't realized it was reputed to have made some $5,000,000. Seven more anyone?? Those will be a little more of a stretch. I think I'm all out of songs here. I do my best NOT to listen to the radio (especially this time of year), but now (thanks to this project list) I have them running on repeat in my head... Geez.

Thanks for the thread!

Now there's a few I've never heard of! Can you actually sing (or hum) them all? I think I can do most of horacejesse's main list, but I'm going to have to bow out here...

I just went through the list again, and my answer is YES. The one and only song on the list I CAN'T sing from memory is:"Grandma got Ran Over By a Reindeer" (Growing up in the south, I developed a serious issue with songs that made southerners seem like idiotic toothless uneducated morons, and, right or wrong, that song fit the bill...so I made a conscious effort to block it from my mind. And I STILL have no interest in hearing it, although I seriously wish I had the 5-mil he's earned for writing it... )Ted
