Quote:Nomi, you can't just go move the samples once you have installed them. There's no way for the plugin to know where you put them...it can't read your mind Try this...you should be able to simply tell the plugin (that's Colossus' Kompakt Player) where you put the samples. To do this, click on the little "options" drop down on the left hand side of your Kompakt, it's a little less than halfway down from the top, and choose "settings". A little window should open. At the bottom of that there's a file path display. Click on the button to the left of it. A browser window opens, navigate to the folder which contains the Colossus library (probably called something like "EW Colossus Library"), wherever you moved that (make sure it's the folder with "library" in its name)...select it and hit okay...then exit the settings window...this should bring the instruments back.If it doesn't, I think you will have no choice but to uninstall the software and samples, and reinstall everything again from scratch. With sample libraries, it's always a good idea to do a little planning and figure out where to put the samples before you install anything.mattoI figured that was the problem so that's why I reinstalled it before. I tried your suggestion but that also didn't work. When lacking skills, sheer persistance can pay off... I finally figured it out. When I copied the sample libraries onto the new drive, I didn't put them into the Library folder. Duh!!!!!!!!!! I just moved them into the folder and voila!!!!Hopefully I'll be able to let this thread expire (though somehow I doubt that). Thanks for all your help, Matt. I owe you breakfast at Denny's or something

Now that I've got the software working, I can finally hear what Colossus has to offer. There are some great sounds including a couple of pianos and lots of nice strings and percussion. But one thing I figured out right away, there is no kick that's really knocking. I wish I wouldn't have to immediately get more samples but I need a good kick (no jokes please ).

Once again technology is winning over creativity... I had everything running smoothly for awhile, recording tracks with streaming (thanks again Matt). But the last couple of days, it's snap!!! crackle!!! pop!!!!!!!!!! (it's bad luck to eat Rice Crispies in the studio)When I record a note using a keyboard midi controller with the Colossus library, I hear a sharp crackle. On the screen the "Instrument Amp" peaks red. If I'm not recording, the keys sound fine. I've switched midi cords, tried different settings, nothing works. This has put the recording to a stop (except vocal tracks). Now I'm thinking... Am I overloading my recording drive and should I take songs off the drive onto an external (I have about 8 I'm working on at a time). Or is it electrical? A signal routing loop? A bad keyboard? Midi setting I'm not using right? If someone knows a Digi002 producer in the Bay Area, PM me. Thanks for your help in advance.

Nomi,Sorry to read about all your problems. One wants to write and record music, not wrestle with hard drives and samples. But from what I read on here and other places, I can see that it is never easy. It is supposed to be, but never is.I cannot recall anyone changing systems or upgrading where it came out simple and easy the first time. People seem to struggle for months with these computer problems, by which time it is time for another upgrade. One of these days I will be upgrading myself and this thread will probably be of major assistance. Good luck.

I have been going through my own version of this. In my case it is related toclocking issues. This clock or sample rate is a very delicate tightrope act. When usingdifferent pieces of DIGITAL equipment together, their is supposed to be a one master clock. A device that is in charge. The remainder of your digital gear that isconnected will be slaved to it. The ideal master, according to the article, is your audio interface.I have been reading up on this and there is a good articlein Feb. Sound On Sound magazine. You can also sign up for a web edition. The article explains the phenomenon of "Jitter". Jitter is when one digital device islooking for a sample at the wrong time. Say your computer clock is set to internal andyou have not told the interface to act as a slave. IF they both think they are in control there will be no sync between them and the computer will be looking for samples from the interface at the wrong time. The result is snap crackle and pop. That is if theyeven work at all. I have a pretty good interface and it still has occasional issues. There are just so many variables with computers and software that it is a constant challenge to keep your sanity. I see you have digidesign equipment. I started out on Pro Tools but soon becameirritated with their drivers for OS X. So I soon had to try something else. Since youhave a PC hopefully the drivers are better. Look at your clock settings in your audio software and in the software control panel of the Digi interface if it has one.Try to make the interface the master and see if that helps. Take care, Phil

I went in to the audio clock and it is set to be controlled by the Digi002 like I expected. But I can't find the audio clock on my midi controller or software. So... Rice Crispies again!!!! Any suggestions?
