Re: Forum Newbies... a few thoughts
Seems like it might be the right time to introduce myself as well. I've been on here a couple of weeks, but I haven't had the chance yet, so here it goes....For those of you who don't know, my name's Dan. I live in San Diego, CA, and have been a music nut since I was about 8 years old. I started playing guitar in 7th grade when I joined a band and realized that actually playing an instrument would help... ...and I've been playing ever since. That band I started playing in in 7th grade turned into a group called Straitaway in high school, and we had some decent success in the San Diego area, including radio airplay. Woo hoo! Kept playing after high school, but I decided to also study music production and recording at Mira Costa college in Oceanside, CA. At 20 years old I got lucky and was hired as an engineer halfway through the program at a studio called Track Star (www.trackstarstudios.com). So, I started engineering, producing, and mixing music professionally at that point, branching out into a lot of independent work after about a year and a half. I always wrote music for fun, but within the last year I started to take it more seriously. I had the opportunity in August of this year to write and record the score for a full length feature film called "Jonathan Moon", and this got me heavily interested in continuing to write for TV and Film. It wasn't my first experience composing, but close enough, but I found it seemed to come really naturally for me. And it looks like the movie will be going direct to DVD within a year or so! I've also co-created and created two sample libraries for Big Fish Audio: "Hip Hop Exotica" and "Punk and Indie Rock: Slammin' Sounds of So-Cal."So, to finish up here, I joined Taxi the last day of August, and I'm just working on getting the music out there! I've had 8 forwards so far and I'm looking forward to hopefully getting a deal at some point! Well, that's a pretty good summary I think! Don't wanna get too long winded (probably have already, but oh well.) So, that's me. Thanks for having me in the forum.Dan Diaz

Also being a newbie-doobie-doo (wasn't that Frank Sinatra?), even without yet hearing your music I'd say TAXI is the place ... ESPECIALLY for newbies. No better place to start learning the game and sowing the seeds/growing the fruits of your labor.Ted

Ah, those were the days... back when I was a noob, you had to FedEx everything because the fastest modems were 14.4, and that was FAST! I'm definitely a TAXI noob, but thanks to this forum and a little trial and error, a little less noobie every day. HA!

Re: Forum Newbies... a few thoughts
Hi Jensen, my name is Tino Aureli, and I am certainly a newbie for what TAXI is concerned. I am a guitarist-composer (www.myspace.com/tinoaureli) and Italian by origin. I have lived in England (London) for the past 35 years. I am 60 years of age with a very big language problem. This prevents me in getting more involved in this forum. I am lurking around most of the time. I have found that this forum is full of good advice and all these people are really experienced and very willing to help.I did have one little post about my overall confusion on many listing has all the music submitted by me have been returned with (…not suitable for this listing) and I have to say that they have all been very helpful. I have had very good feed back from which I have learned straightway……to read the listing well before you forward any music!! So you don’t get disappointed.God bless you all.
