Re: Gauge ECM-87...Reconsidered

Rob, I'm really glad you came on here to clarify. When I had read that it was the same mic as the Nady, I felt compelled to report that here, because I have friends here who have been looking for good inexpensive mics. What I DIDN'T know is how different each of these mics can be. Thanks for the teaching, and thanks again for being very responsive and easy to work with. Now I feel a lot better about not getting three Nadys. But now I think you have a new problem...everyone wants the free mic you offered Steve! Best Regards,Mark

All right, someone please delete this thread, quick! I no longer want my name attached to any criticism of Gauge! Rob, thank you. That's one of the most generous, amazing gestures I've ever seen, period. THANK YOU. -Mark

That's generous, Rob. And let me say, I won a Gauge ECM-87 at the Rally, and I have been very impressed with the lovely tone it gives my vocals. I've received many compliments, even on worktapes. It's a good mic.

You know, I run a business too. And I am truly humbled here. I've always liked to think of myself as a Turnaround King, someone who can take a bad customer situation and turn it into a meaningful, lasting relationship. Every mistake is an opportunity. But here we have Rob who hears some misinformation about his product and he not only explains the value of his brand in a way that makes you want to slap your own head and buy another one... no, once he's already won us over...he gives away the house. Mics for all. Now, just think about that. Seriously. How can you look at that, over a grand in retail value, and not realize that he's in this for reasons of the heart? No other explanation.Rob, it's clear as a bell to me, you have a passion for music and for the people who make it. Only that kind of person would take on such a business as you have, when you've already tasted success. Nope, I get it now: you guys just want to provide the music makers with a great mic for cheap. So you cull the Chinese crop for the diamonds, and put your name on those. Don't have to do it, but you do.Well, that's worth a hell of a lot more than you charge for your product. Hats off to you! You are a true Turnaround King. One more Thank You!-Mark

I am new around here, but I wanted to chime in and say I ordered one of these mics at the rally and have really enjoyed using it. I have been pleased, and not just pleased with the mic for the money, pleased with the mic. I will be interested to see what else they come out with. I have used this for acoustic and electric guitars as well as vocals. I just like the way it sounds. It is probably pretty easy to get caught up in where it was made, what other mics were made in the same plant, etc, but thing to get hung up on is how it sounds, and I think it sounds great. I found these guys to be straight up and delivered exactly what they sold me at the rally, I couldn't be happier. The mic is sitting on a stand in my office always ready to go when I am ready to play.
