Hey Suz,Firstly, of course, all my chants go out to her in this time of pain. I know as a mom it's a very troublin' thing ta have a child (no matta the age, they always our babies) go through somethin like this so I'm sendin out good thoughts to you too.Secondly, I didn't mention it at the time but over Christmas, I ruptured a disc in my neck. It had been herniated a while and was causing me some pain (I'm puttin that mildly) but when it ruptured, I lost all sensation and use of my hands and arms. Didn't mention it heah since it was Christmas and I don't think there's much worse you can do to a musician than have them lose their hands so I didn't bring it up.Anyway, had a fusion done and while I'd heard some pretty dire things about that, it turned out great! My voice is a wee bit darker than it was but the neck works great, no mo pain with only occasional spasms, I've got my hands and arms back. I'm hopin for good results fo yo baby too. I found that massage therapy helped tremendously both pre- and post-op. Somethin ta think about. Physical therapy was what finally ruptured it, the assistant had upped the weights on my exercises without discussion with the PT. If she's in PT, she should be careful and not assume anythin....I was a PT tech for 7 years and when it comes to discs, it's important to be very careful how much weight and what sort of exercises they have her do.All my best to you both.

Hey guys 'n' gals;Thank you so much for your love and support. I know *I'm* already feeling better because of it, and I'm sure my daughter is, too. She sounded better this morning for the first time in a week. Squids, sorry to hear of your ruptured discs. I'm so glad to hear you got your arms back! Lyris has been getting weekly chiropractic care, massage, physical therapy and counseling, and today has a long neurology evaluation. I'll see if I can learn more of the specifics of her physical therapy, and make sure they aren't Arnold Schwarzennegger-ing things. Right now I think they're focusing mostly on ultrasound pain reduction and more gentle therapies. Thanks again everyone, for your generous outpouring of love and support. It means so much to me.I'll keep you posted on how things go . . . Warm smiles of gratitude,Suz

She is in a lot of pain from what we just learned are 2 ruptured discs, and she is having some post-concussion symptoms that are troublesome. My thoughts are with you both too Suz.My wife, son and daughter were also involved in a minor crash a couple of months back. Minor injury wise, but it wrote the car off; they were cut off by a taxi (no pun intended) They are still having problems in the neck region, and have appointments to see a consultant in a couple of weeks. No ruptured discs I'm sure, but the whole thing has been a trauma for them all.My daughter who is eighteen was driving, and had only passed her test a couple of months before. She needs to get back behind the wheel as soon as possible to regain her confidence, but the insurance is taking ages to go through. Even my wife's nervous when driving now!I hope your daughter has a full and quick recovery. All the best,Dave.
