It's okay if you have a current recording of "Hey Joe," but it should sound vintage, as if it had been recorded in the late '60s or early '70s. A little tape hiss and saturation on your recording could help to add to this vibe, but be careful NOT to go too far trying to make your recording sound vintage. 1973 is the cutoff for the sound they're looking for. Songs with Male OR Female vocals will both be considered! Broadcast Quality a la late 1960s-1973 is needed (appropriate sounding home recordings will be fine. Break out the analog tape kids!).Your version should be as close to the Tempo of Jimi's version as possible. You'd be wise to stay within the range of 80-86 BPM. This will help your version fit in with the existing picture edits and the feel that they need for this specific scene. They want Bluesy guitar riffs over a loose Rock band with a vibe that sounds like the anti-establishment, stoned out hippies of that era would think it's groovy. Please do NOT submit anything with synth pads or stiff, MIDI-driven sounds.
