Telefunkin wrote:Hi Phil, I'm a bit late to this one I know, but just one more personal opinion in the hope that it helps. I would say that the focus of this song for many people, and the thing they remember most from the original, is the huge tom fill that its famous for. I really like the fact that you've given it a different complexion with the much lighter sound (are they good old roto-toms?). However, to me, the fill sounds a little dis-jointed in just the final phrase, and detracts from the overall effect. I think cleaning it up a little would help, as I reckon most listeners will be waiting for that fill as the 'pay-off'. Great job in general though. :)
Yes it's too late for this time unfortunately, but in case this track needs to be polished in the future, I'll surely pay great attention to what you wrote (and more globaly to all the good feedbacks I had on this thread ! wow !).
Regarding this break, you'll be (maybe) surprised that I asked myself during a few long minutes if I should keep it or simply ignore it. I tried both... It works pretty well without it either. :) But for this you would need to put aside what we all know about this song. And that's maybe asking too much ! Like you said it, it's kind of expected... like would be a chorus, almost... So in the end I kept it (and yes, I would need to polish it a bit.. these deadlines are kind of too short sometimes to do a really good job unfortunately...)

Thanks again Graham ;) - Phil

Hey Phil,

I like what you did. Really liked a different twist on the tune. Don't know if you submitted it but I like how you re-imagined it. :)

Sorry I forgot to answer this. Yes and no. They are definitely real samples of real roto-toms, but that I programmed ;) That's a dream to put roto-toms in a track ! I've always loved their sound. :)
