Instrumentals??
Hey all, wasn't quite sure where to post this, but I have a question. I write instrumental music & was wondering if listings such as NEW LISTING -- MODERN ROCK SONGS a la Foo Fighters, Incubus, Queens of the Stone Age, Audioslave, etc. are wanted by a Midwest-based Music Library/Publisher with many placements in Films and major network TV (including several TAXI songs). Great performances are essential and a high energy is what's sought after here. Mostly uptempo is needed, but midtempo with the right tone could also be acceptable. Please do not submit material with profanity and/or samples that have NOT already been cleared. He offers a non-exclusive deal. Broadcast quality needed [excellent home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received by May 15, 2008.orLATIN SONGS in the styles of Reggaeton, Mariachi, Tejano, Norteno, etc. are needed by an LA-based Music Library headed up by veterans of that industry. Great vocal and instrumental performances are essential. Male or female vocals are OK. Lyric content is open, but no profanity or uncleared samples please! They offer a non-exclusive, 50/50 split deal -- you keep your original copyrights. Broadcast quality needed. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY -- NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI -- and must be received no later than Apr. 23, 2008.accept instrumental songs aswell as songs with lyrics. I always assumed that they only took songs with lyrics, but I might be wrong? Thanks,Sam.Thanks, Sam.

Re: Instrumentals??
I would only go with listings that specifically say "Instrumentals". In most cases, if it doesn't specify that, then I assume that the listing is expecting vocals ta' be a part of the submission. When I read these types of listings, and I see the word "lyrics" in the description, then that tells me that vocals are required, and to submit an instrumental piece (unless the listing included instrumentals as well), would surely be a waste of time & money. Yeah I'd agree with I-468, Unless it stipulates that that they're looking for instrumentals, don't spend the bucks sending in the track. Another thing you could do is call em up and ask, the guys/gals at Taxi will be more than willing to help answer this for you (probs a lot better than we can - seeing as they deal with it on a first hand basis)...Take CareB

Re: Instrumentals??
Sam,I agree, listings will usually say something like "songs and instrumentals" or "instrumentals accepted as well" if they are interested in instrumental compositions in addition to songs with vocals.

Re: Instrumentals??
And yes, you vocalists totally rock (esp. squids & vikki). But you rock even better when there's music to accompany your vocals! That means musicians ROCK even harder! I-468
