I really love this one:

"I wanna know what became of the changes we waited for love to bring.
Were they only the fitful dreams of some greater awakening"
Wayne R Brown

"Don't let it end like this, tell them I said something." The dying words of Poncho Villa

Woah! Ern's been under the weather for the past few days with a bout of bronchitis! So, even though Jen should win some of Ern's famous chicken, vegatable, and brown rice soup made from homemade chicken stock simmered over 24 HOURS, we decided on something more exciting!

Don Pardo!? --- "Jen, you win a trip to --- Grand Funk's old stomping grounds, FLINT, MICHIGAN! You'll tour closed car factories, empty Stroh's breweries, and a biker bar that Ern played at with his band where Ern almost got stabbed to death! Really! What a night that must have been! Woah, Nelly!

That's right, Jen, you're going to Flint for a 6 night stay at the best Motel 6 we can find! Flint isn't known as 'The armpit of America,' for nothing, and your one-of-a-kind vacation will be a trip of a lifetime!"

Seriously, I WAS born and grew up in Michigan, and LOVED the hard rock from my state (except when I had a knife pulled on me  ! ). Plus I loved Motown, of course!; but nothing can get cruder and ruder than the MC5, Grand Funk, Ted Nugent etc. I actually lived across Lake Michigan from Chicago, where the bands were more horn-oriented and a LOT more pop than Detroit hard rock! So my roots were between those two/three styles, and of course THE BRITISH INVASION!

So guess where THIS lyric came from:

"And when the sun comes up
I'll be on top
You'll be way down there
Lookin' up"

OH Ya! This guy's house burned recently and he lost a lot of his memorabilia from the days of his one hit wonder "96 Tears" known as Q of Question Mark and the Mysterians

You are CORRECT, Wayne! I'm sure you don't want to win a trip to Flint!

If you think about it, that lyric was pretty sexual for its time! I believe ? and the Mysterians were a Latino immigrant band, probably also from Flint MI. And that recording that they did in a living room still stands the test of time. I would guess 2-3 microphones max. Pretty amazing. Also, that was possibly one of the first punk/rock records to make it to #1. Maybe this song was first:

"Well, I had to leave town
Because of Uncle Sam's deal
Well, I guess my good loving
Done lost its appeal"

Ern,

No, no, please don't make me go there! I just got moved away from there.

I think Q and the guys were based out of Saginaw or Bay City. Not sure, but he still does regular phone chats with Johnny Burke on his morning show with the Saginaw oldies station. Can't remember the calls but I know the station streams on the web.

Ha! My sister-in-law lives in Midland! Maybe I'll find the station and let her know about it.

Second clue from my lyric above:

"Ha Ha Ha! Yey Yeah!"
