Perhaps I should waste my five dollars on this:http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... &stream=1I think it's a good piece that would fit a variety of situations. This listing says "repetitive melodic motives and compelling dynamics"... so I don't know.

Re: Minimalist Piano Instrumentals
Just a suggestion you might try starting the piece at :27 secs where that little embellishment sets a mood. Prior to that there is no sense of which way the piece is going to go in mood - could be sad, could be happy.with film & tv, you have to ask yourself "what scenes would this support". I think this could be more jazzy, or more quirky, or more happy, if you get what I mean - needs just a little more of something. It has potential, it just needs to identify itself better. This almost seems like tv sit-com style music to me. IMHO, of course.

Okay, here's my take on the listing. I've heard a lot of really great pieces for this so far. The definition of "minimalism" has certainly gone under great scrutiny! Let's see if this is what they're looking for.http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... eam=1Steve

Re: Minimalist Piano Instrumentals
Steve, this was a July 3rd deadline. You didn't submit this did you? It's very well recorded and written, but I would think that the strings in the background shoot it past minimalist piano, don't you?My piece was strings and orchestra supporting the piano, then I removed all of the strings.I ended up not submitting it. Maybe I should have. Good song though, Wig

It's very well recorded and written, but I would think that the strings in the background shoot it past minimalist piano, don't you? This was for the July 14th listing (#Y080714IN). dgnats had posted a response from Taxi Erin regarding a clarification of the listing (posted earlier in this thread):"This request isn’t for one particular project, but rather to fill the need for several projects on their plate right now. In terms of overall mood, you could simply focus on very sparse arrangements with the piano being the primary instrument. If there is additional instrumentation, just be sure that it is supporting the piano and not competing with it dynamically. Melodic and motive repetition that builds in a static, suspenseful way could be one way to go - melodic counterpoint and wide octave ranges rather than clustered, thick chord structures would be a great place to start. While a “minimalist” approach was specifically requested, you don’t have to try to create any type of soundalike to the artists referenced – they were merely mentioned as a starting point – a guide toward what the company would like to hear. If the piece is well crafted with emotional/dynamic elements that could be compelling for a Film/TV project, that will be the primary criteria – along with broadcast quality in the recording. You actually have quite a bit of breathing room here creatively, just be sure the arrangements are in keeping with the minimalist approach and the primary instrument featured is the piano."So based on that I took the liberty of adding strings. In a few weeks we'll all know based on forwards what they were really looking for!

Re: Minimalist Piano Instrumentals
Hey Ashley... I love your track... sweet.... To me it almost sounds like 2 pianos... with slightly different reverb settings placing the lower piano lines further back in the mix ... maybe its the little earphones on my laptop... Ill have to take it back to the big monitors in the studio and see.... but all-in-all I loved it !!
