Jeff, I think you did a good job! It's loud but I don't hear any pumping or anything, the bass is punchy & the vocals are clear & "outfront". I really didn't hear the pitch problems the first time around but I would say you pretty much have the screener's points covered! (cross your fingers that you get the same screener for this again!)-

Sorry I don't have time to listen but I did catch the end of the postings here. One thing to be aware of when mixing for Film/TV may be to let the engineers at the production end have some digital headroom in case they need to make some EQ tweaks or some mastering changes to make it fit in their production. I know that for my TV gig, I consistently leave about 2dB headroom for all my mixes. In fact, that's one of the specs for delivery for this particular client.Just something to keep in mind! Good luck.Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Billg,Thanks for listening and thanks for the compliment. I do hope that it’s the same screener because that person really liked the song.Jun 19, 2008, 8:59pm, mazz wrote:I know that for my TV gig, I consistently leave about 2dB headroom for all my mixes.Mazz,Excellent point; This is something that I never would have considered but it make a lot of sense. I’ll definitely keep that in mind when I do the final master of the wav file.JeffVersion 2http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=140250&stream=1

Cool tune, finally have a chance to listen.I'm not ultra familiar with the genre (what would you call this?). It doesn't seem to punch as much as the dance music I've heard, it seems more like R and B with a New Age flair. Overall, even with the bass, it seems a bit "polite", which may be the point (see below). All of the effects are really well done, great mix. I'm as into effects as much as the next guy but, for me, the trickery sort of obscured the impact of the song. For me, it became about the effects and I lost the emotional impact of the singing. Now, again, I'm not steeped in this genre, whatever it is. If I were producing/mixing this, I'd make the voice real dry and up front, almost whispering in your ear for the verses, with a soft, long delay triggering a reverb. Then, when the chorus comes in, move the vocal into more of the effects but leave one track fairly clear so the message still comes through.Overall great work. I'm impressed with the production, it's great, maybe just my ignorance of the style made it seem a bit over the top effects-wise.Cool, mixed to standard, IMO!Mazz

Hi Mazz,If you were listening to the version above that was one of the older of the new mixes. The latest one is here... http://abbeydigitalarts.com/Juliet_Lyon ... ng8.mp3You may not find much difference but within this new version the background effects are much clearer. Thanks for listening,Jeff
