I was actually looking for a Blue Cheer video when I found that MC5 video.Blue Cheer's "Summertime Blues" is just atrocious compared to the Who's version. Yuk! The loudest band I've ever seen? My first concert I ever saw was Cream when I was in Jr. High. They were LOUD! But I had nothing to compare them to at the time (Yea, I'm old! ).I did road crew for Rush once, and got to watch them from right in front of the stage, and they were pretty loud from about 20 feet away! --- I've never been into real metal, but I'm sure bands like Metallica, Slayer etc. crank it up.If you've never seen a Morbid Angel video, I'll bet they're louder than Blue Cheer. Wow, take about extreme --- death metal at its finest! Ern

Ern,For some reason I think of this guy when I see that blurred avatar/photo of yours, so I figured why not toss this one on the post. Rocky Burnette - Tired of Toein' the Line - 1980http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPBwbdRuKPcThis one hit wonder got his fame off of a pop song he co-wrote/sang, yet most of his other stuff was Rockabilly based.Rocky took after his dad Johnny Burnette in that both had Top Ten hits. I read that Johnny and his group had a "direct influence upon Elvis Presley, Gene Vincent, Ricky Nelson, The Beatles, The Yardbirds, Aerosmith, Stray Cats, The Cramps..." Not bad.Rocky grew up listening to the group rehearse in his home. I guess you might say Rocky was home schooled. Not a bad way to start your music career.GB

I worked on the Indy car circuit with Rick Downey, who was the drummer for BOC 1981-85. Nice guy, and he still has his hearing... in fact he hears better than I do.http://www.blueoystercult.com/History/Rick.html

How about Hurricane Smith? Were those weird times or what? I loved the way it was just about "anything goes" back then. Cool sax solo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJdkCs5RdQgHe worked with George Martin on all the Beatles albums up through Rubber Soul and also produced Pink Floyd's first four albums. He died last year at age 85.

I ran an internet service for the race teams, both Champ Car (aka CART) and Indy Car from 2001-2008. BOC's ex-drummer owns a service that operates VIP hospitality transporters that he leases to race teams, so he was often a customer of mine.

Re: One Hit Wonders!
Alright, here we go: THE most distorted hit EVER by a band! The Sonics did this version of "Have Love, Will Travel." It's been used on T.V. ads over the past few years. The Sonics WANTED it to sound like their live shows in Seattle, with bad, distorted P.A. systems that sounded like this recording.Wow! If your ears can handle it, check this out:Metallica's got nothing on these guys! Ern

I began watching the Indy Cars back during the two years Al Unser Sr. drove the Johnny Lightning Special to two consecutive Indy 500 victories in a row. For a long time Indy cars ruled in the US. Sad things went down due to all the fighting for control. I still love watching the 500 and even qualifying. Thanks for sharing!
