I am Very excited!!! He told me a couple of weeks before Christmas that he wanted to perform the music that I wrote for the original Pendragon trailer (one year ago) with the orchestra at their film music concert so I have been working on the score over the holidays. I wrote the music for midi thinking that it would never be performed live so I had quite a bit of work to do to clean up the score and make it playable. I want to give special thanks to Steve Barden who looked over the score and gave me some really good advice as I worked on this. Thank you Steve!!! I don't know at this point if the concert will be recorded but I hope so. If it is I will post it on my web site for you to listen to as soon as I have it.I have received word from the producer of Pendragon that I may post music (even though I will not be posting the drafts as I originally had hoped in order to show the differences between the first draft from the composer versus the first midi orchestration draft versus the finished mix of midi and live instruments). I have gone ahead and posted "Mourning" on my myspace page. During the first part of the music someone is found murdered and when the solo vocals enter is the funeral. I am going to post more music + a video clip or two on my web site next week. I will let you know when it is done. The film festival where the film is nominated for Best Picture is held this weekend so I will let you know how it went as soon as I know. That's all for now. Hey Lydia,WOW! I wouldn't let that slip by if that were me... I'd find a way to make sure that recording arrangements were in place. Regardless of that and to further the cause of forum unity, we may have to send Aub as a forum representative to attend on behalf of all of us. Congratulations!Dave

At least get a little Micro Track or something similar and record a bootleg from your seat!!

I am subbing with the orchestra for those concerts so it would be very heavy on the viola in the mix... I am not sure if I am happy or not that I am playing but I said yes to doing it before it was decided that my music would be performed. It would be cool to just sit in the audience and enjoy it. At the same time I love experiencing music from the inside so to speak where all the other parts surround me as we play - and I never thought I would experience something I wrote that way - so it may be a quite amazing experience. We will see...I just may ask Nathan to record a bootleg from his seat though. He has a Zoom which does a pretty good job with stuff like that (besides that it may be so big that it is noticed...)Hmmm...If they don't want to record the concert they may let me record a rehearsal. I'll ask.

Great post Lydia! Thanks so much for sharing the experience. You have done a great job of giving some insight to what goes on in a scoring project like this and thanks to everyone else who has chimed in such great insightful questions. This has been great to read about. Congrats on the nomination. Good luck!Rich

Right now the only way to watch the film (besides catching it at a film festival) is to buy it from the Burns Family Studios. They have been approached by a company who is interested in getting the film into the video rental stores as well as a limited release in the theaters. That would be awesome!!!!!!! See my name scroll by on the big screen... Jan 10, 2009, 7:05am, djbobm wrote:Hi Lydia! This is fantastic! You are doing great. Good luck.BobThank you Bob!

Lydia,Thanks so much for sharing this story! It gives me hope that I might actually be able to make a living in music here in Oklahoma (I'm in OKC).My wife and I are often in Tulsa. If you get a chance at a few extra tickets, we'd love to hear the performance.Congratulations on this new project, and best of luck tonight!Jonathan
