Yeah, pure insanity! Beautiful, lovely, delicious insanity... This is seriously going to change the world of music. No more late-night retakes for that missed chord! We had to know someone would come up with this sooner or later, eh? Forget sliced bread, direct note access RULES. This baby is going to the top of my Christmas list...

Like I mentioned, the art of being a musician will soon be dead... "Hey Jimmy, let's write a song"" But I dunno how to play any other chord except the c chord""eh, not a problem little buddy, you just play that c chord as crap as you want to and I'll do all the work""sounds like fun"*5 minutes of recording and Jimmy's outta the studio (the studio he should never have been in the first place)...*couple months later - song is released by Jennifer Lopez, and little jimmy (who's never worked hard at being a musician) starts to recieve the money....I agree with the program on a professional level, but can you imagine how amateurs are going to abuse this?

My Thoughts:Looks like something that could become a new standard. Like MS Word and ExcelIt will raise the bar as far as the master quality of recordings in the big studios and small. It opens up a lot of new doors for creativity... looks like it can be used on any sample. The days of a totally organic recording may just about be over. Unfortunately, I'm that kind of mule dinosaur that will resist it for two reasons. One, I think the organic sound is true to the art form of music. Two, it will be like my other experiences, sitting around reading manuals and playing with software hours on end trying to make something work, instead of just picking up instruments, writing a song and playing and singing into a recording. Technology, a blessing and a curse.ArkJack

That way, any royalties generated by the tune will stay in the hands of those who deserve it, ie. , the ones who did all the work. The tune won't sell because of the plug in and the magic it worked on Jimmy's guitar playing, it will sell because it was a great song and was well engineered.Mewman

I watched the video. If this product actually does what this guy is saying it will do, it's way beyond awesome and all the way to fantastic. Imagine all the endless hours of tweaking, you can do, both for pitch and timing. blechh... OTOH, I have a lot of old demos that don't cut the mustard because the vocal performances are pitchy as hell. Maybe this'll work on those too!I also use Cre8 often, w Logic 7. Only in bridge mode, can't ever seem to get rewire happening. It's really effective, but always debatable whether it's saving time. Sometimes it's better & faster to play it again Sam. And perfecting pitch in a vocal track, doesn't help much, if the vocal track actually feels better, unchanged. Whatever the tools are or become, they will never replace creating music by making the right musical arrangement choices. Sooner or later, there'll be software that teaches that stuff, and makes suggestions w lick & stuff too. It all boils down to understanding your purpose, with music writing. For those of you that would rather not get involved with technology like this, I commend you. For those of you not willing to take the plunge, I also commend you. What would constitute abuse? Who are you calling amateurs?People are going to continue to learn how to play instruments, get in bands, AND learn how to use technology like this. Your statement that the art of being a musician, will soon be dead, is flagrantly wrong. Would you argue that a better kind of fuel for domestic cars, will impede NASCAR?

I'm saying that it won't become an art like it is now... You won't have legendary musicians because a lot of them will feel that they don't NEED to rehearse 8 hours a day to be the best when they could just settle for being ok and then tweak stuff in the studio!!!I believe that eventually Virtual Bands ALA Gorillaz will be the IN thing and there won't be a need for top class acts... I mean lets be honest as a studio, would you hire an ok guitarist who gets the job done(okayishly) for a tenth of the price or the studio musician who charges a lot of cash? I would think you'd pick the OK guitarist because you can tweak everything into perfection and save on cash.Amateurs are those who play one chord and play melodies on a guitar in syllabels.I think people will start to find that it's more convenient for them to rather do everything themselves than get into a band... who want's the hassle of people not turning up for practice, people rocking up stoned, when you can do everything in your own room?hell aint that why half of us are here?If amateurs abuse this then you're gonna get more of what's out there... Crappy musicians/singers who sound awesome on a cd but in real life make you wish you never bought a ticket to see their concert

Everytime a groundbreaking studio tool appears some people complain that ill will ruin music. They did when multitrack recording made overdubs possible. They did when drummachines showed up. They did when midi sequencing became a reality. They said the same when sampling, harddisk recording and digital editing, and autotune were first introduced.New tools make new production techniques possible. They can save time. They can save you from having to redo the most emotionally charged take because of one or two slight pitch issues. They can also forster sterile, boring and antiseptic music. It depends on who is using them. matto

Yeah I have to laugh at the concept of a tool ruining music. It's like saying the new front steps of the church are gonna stop people from believing in God. People might trip on the new steps, but why complain about new changes? And if this new software really makes someone think people are gonna stop caring about becoming great musicians and/or recording them, it's time to put your whole computer back in its box. Is there really a difference between amateurs and professionals? Why does anyone even NEED to label themselves or others, as pro or not?
