Hey Nomi-Can you post and maintain links to all the versions of your song in the first entry of this thread? That'll make it easier for us to listen to each version without having to hunt through so many posts.I have some thoughts to share about the mix, but I want to make sure I'm commenting on the right version first! Thanks,André

Andre,I haven't mastered the art of proper web management. The only way I can save all the versions is if I rename the song and have a whole list of them on my music page of my site. I wish I knew how to have hidden files. I finally figured it out for photos but still a mystery with mp3s. All the links on this thread have the latest mix. I'd love your comments.Nomi

That's okay, Nomi...you're growing in a lot of ways right now! How about just putting a current link in the first post of this thread so we can get to it quickly and easily? In the meantime, I'll PM you my # and you can give me a ring if you'd like some help with your web files.Andre

I started getting virtual sounds for my new PT system but have discovered that there is no DVD drive on the computer. So note to future computer builders: include a DVD drive.I guess I'll get an external one since I don't know how to install an internal one. Here's some I found, anybody care to give me opinions on which one is best? Really appreciate the help!!!!!Nomihttp://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis....=DVD-ROM+Drives

Nomi-Don't buy an external DVD unless you're concerned about portability; it'll cost you more and eat up more studio space and electricity. These are very easy to install internally; I'll help you with that when you call about the web stuff.Do you know if your computer uses IDE or SATA interfaces? This information will be available in your motherboard's manual, and will determine what sort of DVD drive you should buy.Andre

After Steve Seskin's class and all the input here, I came up with this version. If you're not sick of the song yet, let me know what you think.Nomihttp://www.nomiyah.com/dashboard/avgalle....y__Rewrite_.mp3

I asked for advice from Taxi members and I took much of it and now I need more. Ask for a finger and take a hand, huh?I needed a DVD drive for some new sounds. Andre took a lot of time advising me about which kind of drive to get and how to install it. (Thanks Andre, you've really helped out so many people on the forum. Stay cool!!!!!!!!!!!!)I took the computer apart and put it together half a dozen times but it wouldn't work. In spite of Andre's help, I bent a pin, pricked myself and bled on the computer, bottom line I couldn't get the darn thing to work. So rather than struggle with it, I took it down to the local computer repair shop, 15 minutes and $35 later it was a done deal. But now I can't burn a CD. Is that because I have to get blank DVDs instead of blank CDs? I thought the DVD-R could burn CDs too. I have about 200 blank CDs and was just going to get a 6-pack of DVDs for archiving sessions.

Hi Nomi-Happy to help out, though it sounds like it was somewhat in vain. Well, never hurts to try! Your DVD-R can burn CD's as well as DVD's; must be another setup issue...go back and get your $35 worth from that shop! Did you take out the CD burner you originally had in the computer?Andre

Nomi,What software are you using to burn CDs and DVDs?Is it the software that came with the DVD burner?I remember having an idiot moment when I got my laptop with DVD writer preinstalled. The software was Nero and I was convinced they'd made a mess with the installation because I couldn't get it to burn DVDs....then I saw that the Nero software engine had a toggle switch between DVD and CD and you had to select the format before trying to burn...a real 'idiot versus computer' moment.Tell us what software you have and if you've been able to burn DVDs yet.Phil
