A favorite line from your own lyrics

Post by nomiyah » Fri Dec 02, 2005 9:41 pm

On this thread, I'd like to hear one of your favorite lines in a song you've written.Love is happiness and my obsessionLack or loss thereof will cause depression (Couldn't Walk Away)

I think my favorite is a verse in "Painfully Single". I was thinking about a friend and what she was going through to meet someone. Answering singles ads in a magazine came to mind... I love the rhymes:The magazinesAre where my lonely search beginsThey advertiseUsing clever acronymsReality replaces hypeMeet for a drink, just not my type Casey

Hmmmm... I have a few, other than the one I posted earlier on this thread...In "Physical World", I'm talking about how I feel out of my league with this very attractive woman...But it's no useWhen worlds collideI'm a fish that's out of waterSquirming to surviveAnd in "Wonder Woman", a song which compares a woman to the comic book hero:With magic bracelets you deflect the painI wonder, woman, why I need to explain (play on the words "Wonder Woman")Super heroes lead such lonely livesThey save the world and sleep alone every night Casey

Quote:MikeHi! I'd like to hear your song but I don't think links to .exe files should be allowed on message boards such as this.... Too much risk of viruses. CheersCaseyMike is a tricky guy. Actually it's a link to a harmless streaming MP3. The name of the song is actually "You And Me.EXE" (you-and-me-dot-e-x-e). It rhymes and is only the song title, not the name of the file he's referencing in the link.

From "A Matter of Time," a softly sung, poignant break-up song:As I look into your worldI see a beautiful little girlShe's got her daddy's eyesBut they don't match mineSome painfully ironic context: After I wrote this song, the girl for whom it was written found out she couldn't have kids, making it that much harder for her to listen to.The happy, even more ironic ending: She and I just had a healthy baby girl together!
