Casey,I knew you'd take my comments in the right way. And as I always say, sometimes songs grow on you. There have been radio songs that I did not like initially and sometimes later (sometimes even years later) .. I get them and start liking them (go figure?).Dean

Hello Casey,Nice! One of those care-free party songs that gets you tapping your feet with a smile on your face.I can't help but envision a video of the song being played at a small club in NYC with fans jumping up and down singing along.I also like the idea you have about the break in the middle for possible audience participation. Good one!

I've been very fortunate that I've been able to work with great producers like Dan Marfisi and our own B Flat who can listen to one of my rough tapes, look beyond the performance, and bring out the song in there. This is a great example. Today I played my work tape and this recording for 2 musicians I work with. They were amazed. I should post a few comparison snippets for some other songs. So, thank you Keith! You made this come alive... Casey

No prob, Casey....it was my pleasure!Funny you mentioned, I heard hand claps in the double time parts....but didn't want to go too overboard! I did get a kick out of the before and after, I think people would dig the transformation!

wow, from where you started to where you began is incredible. I heard the "after" first and thought it was great, love the key change on the chorus (well, I don't know if it's a key change per se, but whatever). It always amazes me the effect a good production can have on a good song. You never know how good our little skeleton songs can really be...(I guess we, the creators do, it's convincing everyone else thats the problem

Quote:Casey,I really like the lyric, but the melody just didn't do it for me. I thought it seemed too repetitive and the chorus hook did not grab me. Not a bad listen, the performance is good, there is a lot of energy, but not original enough in the melody area for my ears ... Well, the good thing is everyone disagrees with me. They all like it a lot. Must be my problem.DeanHey Case,I have to agree with Dean sorry, though for me I thought the treatment should be more Rock & Roll which is the feel I get off the lyric and performance of the vocal, their edge doesn't match the punk treatment of the music (both performances are good). Fer instance -All the girls will be rushin’ the stageIn the aisles they’re gonna dance and swayThis is more Rock & Roll to me.Everybody rushing the stage,Dancing as the band bang, bangs away. This is more Punk to me. To you, maybe different, I dunno, but that's my 2 cents.. Geo

Quote:One of the reasons I haven't posted much lately is I've spending much more of my free time on music, trying to finally crank out some new material.you mean you're not on the forum for hours a day?.... great song...you had me at the beginning...definately more rock than punk....lyrically and musically...there was a listing for songs about cities at one point,...hopefully it'll turn up again...great job on this song,Vicky

Quote:you mean you're not on the forum for hours a day?.... Ha! Well... I've cut back from 12 hours a day to 4-5, LOL! Seriously, I wish I could spend more time giving feedback on other people's songs, but with the day job and family (damn! they are so fussy... wanting food on the table), it gets tougher. I try now to put many more evening hours into music. Thanks for the listen and feedback! BTW, what instrument do you play? Casey

Thanks Geo! Appreciate the listen and feedback. All opinions mean a lot to me whether I completely agree or not. And we are all too close to our own projects sometimes to see how others might perceive them... My thinking is "punk" nowadays is a wide genre with many sub-classifications. There is hard core like The Sex Pistols and lyrically I don't think this one if for that. But there is the somewhat lighter side with The Clash and Green Day. The Clash even did some great 60's re-makes like "Needles And Pins". A lot of Green Day songs have more rock lyrics. And then there are these newer (confusing) sub-genres such as pop-punk with bands like Smashmouth, Blink-182, etc... Smashmouth had a big hit with their re-make of the Monkees' "I'm A Believer". Lyrics don't have to be 'head banging" to fall somewhere under the punk umbrella today. But, I agree that the music and lyrics come much more from a 60's or classic rock place and it might be an issue here.I'm going to take some time to read over lyrics from a few of the bands I mentioned above, something I wouldn't have done without this kind of feedback... So thanks! CaseyPS Later edit: You really got me thinking about some of the lyrics and some changes that might help. For example, maybe nix the use of "baby" in verse 1, especially "C'mon baby"... And "play our songs" in V2 is a bit wimpy for punk, something tougher would be better... "There's a new sound" has bothered me a bit because the sound here isn't very new, though that might be overanalyzing... I could change:There's a new soundAnd it's comin' from heretoThe suits are comin' To put the money right hereIn my earliest version I had "put the money right here"... Some thoughts... You got my brain goin' ... Casey
