Hey Larry,Sounds like the beach to me! I don't recall the 60's having very interesting drums either. The vocals are tight to say the least and the mixes are perfect for the style. I really dig the tune and the vocals are really solid. The thing is...we don't necessarily know exactly what the screener is looking for. While your submission may seem right on target, they may have a very specific thing..like a female vocal or something like that. Sometimes I wonder if the screeners know what they're looking for...I just had a long email exchange with one of the Taxi staff about contradictions in a critique I got. The response was, basically, they must have checked the box by mistake. Way to go! Nice to know they pay so much attention and proff read before they send it off. So, how exactly am I supposed to use this information...?

So this is your first post? Welcome to the Taxi forum. Let's see if I understand correctly. You're frustrated because a screener might have checked the wrong box, and made a mistake? And do you proof read you own stuff before you post it? Would you call your spelling of the word, proof, below, a mistake? Should we be angry with you because you didn't bother to spell check? Larry --I just listened to the track and didn't have an immediate problem with the lyrics or the vocal pitch. But, IMHO, I'm not sure if you hit the target with the "early 1960s" sound. That is, while I thought the overall performance was excellent, it sounded more like an Beach Boys influenced song recorded in the early- to mid-1970s. There's also the slightest country vibe/accent on the rhythm guitar and lead vocal. Nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't scream early 60s Beach Boys or Jan and Dean to me. The song also reminds me bit of some of the more-nostalgic Dire Straits tracks -- "Twisting by the Pool" and "Walk of Life."One final thought -- the instrumental tracks on those pre-session musician Beach Boys songs (Dennis Wilson, on drums, that is) are actually fairly primitive. Maybe that was an issue -- the performance was a little too good to pass for authentic.
