Re: ONOFFON
The ONOFFON SSP of the Day is the latest Review Crew review left on our song, "Opus", over at Mixposure -"Opus" - ONOFFONhttp://www.mixposure.com/song.php?songid=2018Reviewed by Guy Michetti - 4/7/2005"A Musical Work Has Been Created This is beautiful piece of music! It's perfect. From the beginning the guitar, the sounds cascading back and forth on my headphones transported me to a different place.Love the guitar at the beginning. Great chord progression. Lovely and sensitive playing. There is a rarified tension at the beginning of this piece that just fills me with joy. The sound textures are perfect. The rain comes in and glides across my mind, and still the guitar plays. Ah!!! A feast for the ears! The next part of the piece now I begin to lift and fly over the scene I have imagined in my mind. The electric guitar tone is just right. It's a little buried in the mix, but I'm a guitar player so take that with a grain of salt!Great ensemble playing is evident. It's like you are all in each other's mind knowing and working off each other. That is rare. It is also wonderful. Then a variation and a restatement of theme at the end of the piece. Again, a quiet stillness in the face of the storm. You are left with the memory of the orgasmic rushes that you have experienced throughout this piece. And you are drenched in your own emotions and your imagination is asking you to take another ride, another listen. A musical work has been created, you want to listen again and again. You want to become one with the Opus. And you will. You will...."Thanks to Guy for his wonderful imagery...

(see the CD review for this outstanding album at IOM). The next four highest nominated artists, in alphabetical order, were: Karmic Brick Quantum Kids Symphony in DeMeanor and The Clark Institute These nominated artists represent the very best in professionally oriented independent music and the albums that were under consideration for this event each have highly innovative and creatively outstanding elements that have notably impressed the entire community. The winner and nominees in this event will shortly be issued their awards, but for the time being, we think a standing ovation is the order of the day for these guys... not just for the music they have produced between them, but for standing out in an industry that truly benefits in many many ways for having these guys around! On behalf of the Tea Room members, represented artists, and R Cat staff, we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who submitted their nominations. We really do appreciate that it was a very difficult task and we would like to offer our very best wishes to the final winner and nominees who made this event possible! From everyone at R Cat with love and best wishes"Huge sincere thanks goes to everyone that took the time to vote for us and make this happen... now, if we can just get this new CD released...

Quote:I thought you guys were a shoe-in Congrats! Thanks for the vote of confidence, Drew!In this day and age of preconceived, vacuformed music - it's very cool to receive something like this.As the independent music movement over the internet gains credibility in the public's eyes, a change is taking place, as with every technological advancement that transforms an industry. It's a good time to be independent...

Just think if your band a noisy guitar player that sings as good as Jimmy Durante (well, almost as good) there's no telling how far you might go.

As in Jimmy Durante... get it? ummmm.... yeah...Well, I've been resting on my laurels for a few, soaking in our new title of 2005 Artist of the Year... but, it's time to get back at it, so,Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is that I just sent in my renewal fee for our second year here at TAXI...I wasn't sure until the absolute last minute if I wanted to have another go 'round - I just thought I should at least try one more year. Who knows - with our new title and our next CD in pressing, one can never tell what might happen...So, here we go TAXI - let's keep on dancing...

Re: ONOFFON
The ONOFFON SSP of the Day is from a station built over at SoundClick - Magnu has built a series of stations and hand picked songs to feature on them - he chose Shadowglass with this review -Magnu's Chocolate Box No. 2http://www.soundclick.com/stations/stations.cfm?id=143838"7 OnOffOn - Shadow Glass Every time I try to classify this track, the slippery little blighter eludes me. The over-riding impulse is that of early to mid-70s Camel, which I think should please them somewhat. The guitar is crystal clear and inventive and there are some great jazzy cum folky progressions (a la Gong). Although probably too much of a compliment, this is the kind of track you may find on an Alan Holdsworth CD. Whaddya mean who? Did I mention the flute? No? Best go listen then hadn’t you."Thanks to Magnu! Camel and Alan Holdsworth? - *whew*

Re: ONOFFON
Another new OMD startup wants our music as a result of our new award - and then becomes today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day -"Von,Keep up the amazing work!Would you be willing to put your stuff on this site, but with an agreement which I would mail to you? It's http://www.DigitalMediaDownloads.com - I could start a whole page in your genre starting with your music! What I'm trying to do is just create a directory of interesting music by a variety of artists with either short hi-fi clips, or longer lo-fi clips, no extra information - just music, and links to most formats AAC, MP3, WMA to buy directly from iTunes, mp3tunes, msn or whatever. My idea is to generate interest in a variety of artists, but then give a user several downloading/buy options. So let me know if you're interested.-Steven"Sounds good to me... as long as no 'moral rights' are at stake... We've received a dozen invitations from various music sites over the last week...

Re: ONOFFON
There is a new Pope! Now.... If the world could remember the affection and admiration shown during the passing of John Paul II and the naming of Pope Benedict XVI - transcending race, nationality, religion - coming together to honor men of peace. The world needs more of that...
