Plus I forgot to mention my cousins flatmates got a hold of it one night in aberdeen and they trashed it and the back of it slid off and I had to glue it back on. Whole guitar is just knackered and would probably only suit now as a sit at home practice guitar. Such a pity, it had a lovely fishmans pickup in it and all. was my favourite ever guitar I bought. :(

You should ask a luthier before assuming; the big baby doesn't have a bound neck, so a refret should be south of $200, or it may only need a few frets or even just a crown, dress and leveling. (which runs about $80, in my neck o' the woods) There could be a problem down the road, if you used the wrong sort of glue, but as long as the neck is true and doesn't need a reset, it's probably very fixable, if you don't mind the 'ruggedized' look. Even with a new nut and saddle, it should be cheaper than a replacement.

Umm... I might be a little biased since Martin is like a stones throw from me... but, you can't go wrong there imho. One of the best guitar makers in the world.

Let's be honest; in terms of acoustic guitars that they put their rather expensive name on, Martin has stooped even lower than Gibson. (not a compliment to either organization, btw) There, I said it. And having said that, Gibson has been very busy, polluting their name where electric guitars are concerned, at least in terms of their solidbodies. It isn't difficult (nor expensive) to buy a quality guitar anymore, but Gibson, Fender and Martin need to figure this out, before they become irrelevant in the market. Among the Big Three US guitar brands, it's looking like Fender will be the Ford....discuss.

OH crap, I didn't know that... I haven't looked at Martin recently. I am sad to hear they went the way of "mass market" if that's the case. I bet old Martin is rolling over in his grave.

Well, look at it the other way, and they're pioneering the use of less-endangered alternative woods, laminates and composite bracing, and their guitars at $2500 and up are nearly as good as ever, but they may have doomed themselves when they stopped putting the lesser Sigma label on their entry-level and import stuff, blurring the lines as to what constitutes a real Martin.
