Maybe the end cymbal was a ride, but it sounded to me more like an open hat.
As far as *&^%, i.e., "messing" with the drum inners, I thought that the easiest way to decrease the volume of the pedaled hat would be by lowering the midi velocities of just that note in the sequence and laying it down again to audio.
I'm not sure how you deal with drums, but for what it's worth, I separate each element (kick, snare, hats, toms, rides, etc.) onto its own midi track and then, once all the midi timing and velocity is right, I'll record each midi track onto its own (usually stereo) audio track. (Some people go further and record the overhead mics, room mics, etc. onto separate audio tracks, but I don't usually go that far.) Anyway, this gives you control over individual drum parts regarding mix balance, EQ, compression, reverb, etc.
Just something to consider, Mr. M.
