Hi guys ok update I found some really good kicks from primeloops. next project will use them. or might switch out the drums on the one I'm doing right now. might not be worth it. maybe best to move on to the next song and keep the learning going.

What about the sound of the drum machines makes the advertised bit depth irrelevant?

What instrument would 24 bit depth be more relevant for?

The short answer is that 24 bits is good for samples that weren't recorded well, or were recorded with too much headroom. The longer answer is that most folks who've sampled these machines at whatever bit depth usually normalized the files to within a tenth of a dB of full scale, after sampling. You don't have to be a mastering engineer to get the joke, but it helps. :D

Lol! I think i get it. So you're assuming they raised the noise floor by normalizing, defeating the purpose of using 24 bit.

Is there a reason why they would necessarily record with too much headroom, other than inexperience?
