Tell us (NON-MUSICAL) about yourself
Hi I thought it might be fun to get to know more about each other outside of the realm of music. Age, sex (male or female, not how often), where you grew up, where you live, married?, single?, polygamist?, kids?, dogs?, cats?, gerbils?, etc... Profession, other hobbies, etc... In other words, tell us about yourself on a personal level. All is, of course, optional... I'll go first...I was born in the 1950's, but not old enough for the senior citizen discounts yet. Grew up in Brooklyn, NY. After college, I lived in northern New Jersey (what exit?)... In 1984, while vacationing in Connecticut, I met my wife who was from Philadelphia. I moved to Philadelphia in 1986, we got married, and I've been here ever since. We have 2 teenage kids, a girl almost 18 and a boy almost 16. I work as a software engineer (microprocessor-based stuff) for a company that does industrial temperature controllers.... Got a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Computer Science (I'm not as smart as that may sound )... No pets, wife is very allergic. Hobbies outside of music include serious channel surfing. Hope everyone has a nice Memorial Day... Casey

Beware. You could be opening a can of worms here.If I get started on my life story you won't hear the end of it.I'm 31 and I feel like I've lived the life of 30 people sometimes and I currently feel like I've just been reborn and am living a whole new life (so let's make that 31 lives).

Re: Tell us (NON-MUSICAL) about yourself
Born in Hollywood in 1955, my dad immediately declared bankruptcy, sold his home in the Hollywood Hills, and bought the home I grew up in, in the latino barrio of the San Fernando Valley called Pacoima. It was a few blocks from where Richie Valens grew up. After my second year of college (didn't get a degree), I was hired as a laborer for special effects crews at Universal Studios. Worked on the entire productions of Airport '77, Jaws 2, The Incredible Shrinking Woman, and John Carpenter's The Thing. During Jaws 2 (seven months location in Navarre Beach, Florida), I crossed over into special effects. Also worked briefly on many TV shows like the Rockford Files, Battlestar Gallactica, Buck Rogers, Knightrider, and other movies - the Blues Brothers, Airport '79, Phatasm 2, and Big Bad Mama 2. Also worked as a grip on La Bamba - seemed apropos to work on the story of Richie Valens being raised in Pacoima myself. Got screen credit on that one.I left the movie business when I got a record deal in Germany with a group called Uranus and also became the producer and director of a music video company. Had a music video I directed nominated for an independent screening award at the 1984 Billboard/MTV Music Video Conference - now called the MTV Awards. In 1986, I met my wife, and we married in 1988 - the same year my father passed and I opened the first Long Beach Jazz Festival with my group at that time, The RH Factor (not the RH Factor that is out now). That was a year of huge ups and downs. We now have two teenaged sons, 16 and 13.I'm now grant writing to raise funding to produce the documentary of my father's life that is a fiscally sponsored project of the New York Foundation for the Arts. That's the VERY abbreviated version leaving out most of my musical incarnations - so much more occurred between those events - too much to tell here -Cheers!Von from ONOFFON

I was born in '55 like Von, though I'm not nearly as old as him. Originally from Biloxi where my Dad was stationed, lived in Baton Rouge since the age of 4. Got married in '79, I'm not sure how long ago that was, my wife says 100 years but I don't believe her. 3 kids, sons 25 & 23, daughter 22. A really great dog, LuLu (med. size Rottweiler), who's always happier to see me than anyone one else.I was the only person in my high school who got arrested in a small La. town, locked in solitary over night, driven to the town limits by the local chief, thrown out of the car and told to never return to his town again or he'd shoot me. Believe me, that was bragging rights back then. Used to hitch to New Orleans (75 miles) for concerts and other fun stuff through my high school years, it would take days to list all the bands I saw, still have a lot of the ticket stubs. Every time I'd get home, sometimes 2 or 3 days later, my parents would ask where I'd been... "I stayed at Steve's house". I always used that name. I'd just tell them a great story (true) and they enjoyed it.At 18 I got a real traveling bug, headed west, wound up in Dawson Creek, B.C. It was great, everyone loved my southern accent (except Californians, they just thought I sounded stupid), kept traveling after that til I met my wife. Again, it would be a long list to name the places I went. My son's, who also love my stories, have been doing some traveling too, they have some pretty good stories. My wife blames that on me.Attended some pop festivals (the real ones) back during the war when people were going for a last bash before shipping out. Hence the names "Celebration of Life", Festival Of Man And Earth", etc. They were a lot of fun, everyone there was your friend. I was 15 at my first one, my parents were REAL upset... "I was at Steve's"I still travel, more nights in hotels than in my bed, I'm home every other weekend, but it's for work now (drat).Hmmm, I didn't mean to write more than 3 paragraphs, sorry.

50 just always seems older when I'm talking about someone else

Notice I only said I was born in the 1950's... Actually I'm even older than Von and Drew (by a year)... Be nice to your kids. They will decide where you live someday... Casey

They all kept directing me to each other and one said their computer records were stolen. That was denied by the NSA who said only the FBI messes up records. The FBI said the Homeland Security folks might have you in a special file but I'd have to talk to the CIA.. Bedsides, they could only really talk to me when the threat level comes down from Orange... Now I REALLY feel safe... Casey
