George Martin & good PR about the "Paul Is Dead" Rumour. Real audience participation with this album. You had to figure out all the clues on the sleeve, as well as look for them in the songs. I'd say a perfect marketing ploy that stead them several albums.

I think those people have WAY too much time on their hands. By the way, in which prison do they reside?I find it a bit difficult to believe that John would literally punch someone in the mouth. He was always "gunning" for peace and all. I think it was Yoko who really brought out the angst of the band.I dunno if you can really separate Paul out of that Lennon/McCartney mix though. I don't think John or Paul could have made it on their own at first.

Sorry, couldn't resist,This is a tough one, but I'm going with Ringo. I dont think any other drummer could have possibly worked as well. He had a way of just lacing those drums that I don't think anybody was doing at that time, and I don't think they would have been nearly as cool with a more passive drummer.

Re: Why was Sgt. Peppers such a huge album?
good and tough question.john started it all, so i'd have to say it was him. they were a rock band, and john was all about rock and roll. but without paul the pop side of things wouldn't have happened. it took both of them, i think.ringo was/is the best drummer in rock history, because of what zink says above. no one else would have fit into those songs so well, and anyone else would probably have ruined them.then there's george. he always had a great song to add, and his leads were as perfect for the songs as ringo's drums. but, john was the one really. he created it, gave it force and grit, and really pushed for the peace and love thing. a real heart and soul. (btw, john said he could be a violent person, but he prefered himself when he was peaceful. pacifism was what he prefered, but he acknowledged his violent, street ways.)

Quote:I'm not disappointed at all Johnny. I was just joking around. Guess the one thing you didn't pick up yet is a sense of humor! It's never too late to start though...Either way, Paul Weller is an excellent singer. I know that coz I studied Bel Canto at college and have won national singing competitions but also because I don't have my head 'jammed' up my ass. The Jam were the biggest band in Britain for about 5-6 years. I think that's pretty succesful! The only thing Paul had going against him was his extreme Anglophile accent which made it harder to break through in places like the States.Btw, Billie Jean has the same kind of feel as Taxman???????? Don't think so buddy. Same notes doesn't equal same feel. Billie Jean is the same as Living on A Prayer alright. I know coz I play bass pretty well. And you're right. I'm not earning a living from music. I could be tomorrow if I wanted to join a wedding/covers band but that's not where my heart is.Oh and it's spelled 'Pog Mo Thon' by the way.Is that easy enough for you??Apologies mani for my lack of humor.I had to go and play a string of Irish Weddings and you know what paddies are like,no sooner has one fight finished when another one starts!Thank you for the spelling lesson and just to keep this post relevant, what's your favorite bassline on Sgt Pepper.mines Lovely Rita.

George Martin!!!If they had remained 'The Quarrymen', then I would have to say John....Because...IMHO...As 'The Beatles',,, well, the "whole was greater than the sum of its parts" (or some archaic quote like that,,, and you would even have to toss B. Epstein into the mix)...But I belong the school of thought that there were actually '2 Beatles Bands'...Beatles 1....The 'Live' Beatles...who rescuscitated Rock & Roll in 1964.....&...Beatles 2.....The 'Studio' Beatles...Who are the ones that most folks under the age of 50 are aware of....And they really are 2, count 'em 2!!! different Beatles....And so, I guess that I'm only casting my vote for the Studio Beatles when I say....George Martin!!!!Midnite(quitting now 'fore I start Ranting) BobOk... who, in your humble opinion, was the most important Beatle and why?[/quote]
