Mojo,

Here's the key; deliberate practice requires three ingredients: repetition, immediate feedback and goals. This would tend to suggest that playing live music is the fastest way to get better at playing music, particularly if your goal is to not be pelted with rotten fruit. :D
I got a fortune cookie for lunch. I have it sitting on my computer. It says " Hard work without talent is a shame, talent without hard work is a tragedy ".

I found that most people practice mistakes. They don't stop and work out why they keep making the same mistake and correct it. It is too much hard work to unlearn a mistake.

Record everything - this is Instant Feedback.

Goals - Make a list and keep checking it twice A La Ariel Hyatt.

Keep em comin....good reads all of them.

Hey Mojo,

I registered for SoundExchange after I went on their site an ran their 'Plays' search. I saw a few of our songs had airplay. After some e-mails and contract signing we were accepted as Hook Jaw Brown and entitled to the royalties. ummmm....two cents. Once again it is all in the numbers of songs you got out there.

Great list of resources you are assembling. You could put a book together, at least a very long blog. Hey! Sell it and become rich!

The way people 'consume' music is changing. (again) Ignore this at your peril.
