I'm all for Hayley, at this point. The problem (personal taste, no doubt) I have with Scotty is that his voice, to me, is a country cliche'. It will work for him, to the tune of millions. There are countless country singers who have that same "twang" to their voice, regardless of their vocal range. But it sells. Why does it turn me off? Don't know.

I have watched every episode of Idol since season one. However, imo that it became a "popularity" instead of "talent" contest. Don't get me wrong, there are some great singers that would have not been found if it were not for Idol. Lauren Alaina and James Durbin have been my favorites this year.

Yeah, i think so too, Darin, to the point that it just might've been my last year watching. I only caught the last 1 1/2 rounds tonight but I definitely think Lauren had the better original song to work with. And honestly, I think she has a really GREAT voice, I just feel like her maturity level isn't there yet. Neither of the two finalists had any "wow" moments for me this season (other than Lauren's first auditions), but I think they will both do very well in their post-Idol careers.

It's been fun seeing everyone's comments!

In a way, the show could be said to be training the next generation of A&R people; the juxtaposition of commercial potential and artistic value should be very constructive, for those who are paying attention.
