If you gonna impress the ladies during early morning rush hour, like they suggested in Nashville, may I suggest a woman, single mom, been one a while, finally meets someone new who really does it fo her. That way the non-single everyones out there will feel like it's a love song and the single moms will feel like there's hope fo them too.I would totally dump the he's my song, he's my melody thing. Jes cuz a girl likes barrel racing (I do!) and Nascar don't mean she's dumb. She'll know a good strong lyric when she hears it.

Others have said it, but I think the biggest factor is that Richie McDonald wrote the song himself. I don't think it ever would have made it through the "machine" otherwise. Artists get to do that sometimes I guess... and sometimes it works!I wonder what the response would be from screeners/etc. if any of us had submitted the chorus to Sugarland's "All I Want To Do?" DerekAll I want to do is far superior in melody than any song I have heard here on taxi or any other songwriting websiteplus it's a positive bubbly song and people want to hear positive songs..they don't want to be reminded of the times we are inAll I want to do is the perfect country radio songThe same goes for Taylor Swift - love story

no, no - I love your idea. very cool. it's the story isn't there yet. I have a dog in a song but I think the dog has to be there for a reason. I'd rather know about her three kids. keep going with the song, just picture it up and make the verse lyrics go to the hook. you can do it - Taxi country writers are the best Claire

a song about a single mom sounds like one that would be "written by committee"there would have to be an interesting angle

Claire makes solid points, as usual. I am going to work on the song tonight and present something more in the morning for ya'all's comment and we will rework it from there. I think we need a rough draft starting point and then move that draft along to a completed song. With the contributions above, I will take the shot at the rough tonight and we can tear it apart over the next few days.-Perry
