Quote:Quote:Apologies mani for my lack of humor.I had to go and play a string of Irish Weddings and you know what paddies are like,no sooner has one fight finished when another one starts!Thank you for the spelling lesson and just to keep this post relevant, what's your favorite bassline on Sgt Pepper.mines Lovely Rita.Bloody Paddies. Always making a show of themselves! Funny about Sgt Pepper. Macca wrote a lot of great standout basslines but I wouldn't say there are many on that album. Not that what he plays on the album is bad by any means. In most cases his lines are perfect for the song. It's just not a very rhythmic bunch of songs though and he ends up mostly playing tuba lines. If I had to choose one, it might be 'Good Morning'.I think George Martin was the most important ingredient in the Beatles by a considerable margin.Interesting point about Macca and Martin.I have often wondered to what extent he would have intervened or advised on basslines.Bottom line (pun intended)we will probably never know.

Hey Rockinthebox,,,,505050!!!....& here's my humble effort to keep it goin'...(Ed.Note...Midnite had knee replacement surgery & is going stir crazy, sleeping only 3 hours a day & is spending WAY too much time on-line)Here are my follow ups....For others to follow up on...1....Everyone will have an endless debate about "who's the greatest rock & roll band"...But I think, IMHO, the question ought to be rephrased......"Which band has changed the most lives?"....2....(Trivia, I suppose, for American's only)...What movie was playing on 'The Wonderful World Of Disney' on the Sunday night that The Beatles debuted on Ed Sullivan?...(Ahh, screw suspense....It was part 2 of 'The Scarecrow', starring Patrick McGoohan)3. How many Beatles Bands were there? a. the Hamburg & Liverpool Beatles b. the 'live' Beatles... c. the Studio Beatles... d. the after the 'Break-up' Beatles....4....Where??? in the 'evolutionary scale',,, was 'rock & roll' when The Beatles came along???...(perhaps again, this questioned should be guided towards the Americans)...Hints:....Buddy Holly was dead...Elvis had come & gone & was back from the military & making sucky movies....Chuck Berry & Jerry Lee Lewis had 'teenager problems',,, Little Richard was busy doing his Little Richard 'Thang'......And Radio was being dominated by the New York 'Payola Agents' ...Promoting bands like...Franki Valli & The Four Seasons...Fabian...Bobby Rydell....Bobby Clinton....(Although Dion & The Belmonts were a talented exception)..Take your pick of the questions....As for me,,,well, I'm taking a break.....Midnite

I'm shamelessly getting in on the hawaii 50 page. I have nothing to add but admit to reading regularly.
