Here ya go Vikki, here's the main song I really thought nailed the Dylan thing http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... am=1here's the listingSINGER/SONGWRITER SONGS a la Bob Dylan, Replacements, Tommy Stinson, Nick Cave, etc. are needed immediately by the Music Supervisor of a major cable TV series. Stylistically they are open, but the tone should reflect the referenced artists carefully. Lyrically, the content is open, but no profanity please! They want original songs with vocals, so no instrumentals please. Great performances are absolutely essential. Broadcast quality needed - Great sounding home recordingsare OK. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions willbe screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. Submissions must bereceived by 12:00 noon PST Tuesday, July 1, 2008. TAXI #D080701SSDon't know what I can do to tighten things up vocally. That's the one thing about being a mediocre vocalist, I'm always doing the best I can. Next time.

I respectfully disagree with TAXI's decision here. You deserved a foward, especially on "Compliments in Lavender." To me, you sound exactly like Dylan here, even better. You know I always call you 'Dylan with pitch.' And you also know how I feel about Deja Vous Blues....both killer songs with appropriate vocals.Bummer.

Unfortunately I'm going to agree with the screener on this one. The music is great, and I think you do have a Dylan-ish sound but the vocals are pitchy. I do understand that they are looking for "Dylan" but they also said "great performances are essential". That probably puts me in the minority, but that's my take on it.

My vocals are never perfect but I had the same comment on Deja Vu Blues and the vocals on that were "pitch corrected". Kills a little credibility for me. Anyway, "Compliments" has been signed to a few libraries & forwarded three times, no one else has said anything about pitch so I'm not sweating it.

Good plan, bill. I feel the same way about the credibility factor. Onward and upward big guy!

I'm sure many of us have had a piece forwarded for one listing and returned for another.

" Just one person's opinion" is exactly how I look at it, not whining about anything. And yes I've had songs returned for pitch & vocal problems only to be forwarded later with comments like "the vocals really help sell the song" etc. I just can't help but laugh actually about using pitch correction software FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE on a ala BOB DYLAN listing and being returned for pitch issues (come on now folks that's funny!). If I were a stand up comic I'd certainly have to incorporate that in my act. It's like I told Erin, maybe my voice is immune to pitch correction.
