I've worked at what I've had to when the professional stuff falls in a heap, which it did at regular intervals, the most recent being not so long ago. (Yes it's in a heap now with the GFC, but we finally have fall-backs that keep us alive)

General computer nerd here. Done everything from tech phone support to SAP conversions while I lived in Cali. Since I've been back in Louisiana, I've been self-employed, doing whatever, but mainly working with physicians selling and supporting practice management. After Katrina, no doctor's, so no work. Got into real estate, seemed like a good idea at the time. Now I'm just finishing up a stint of configuring and repurposing Salesforce.com to track volunteer's and neighborhood renovation's (entire neighborhood renovations) for a few non-profits in town. That job is wrapping up and I have no idea what I'll be doing next. But I never do, so no big change. Actually looks like I might be taking a three or four month job in San Francisco doing database work at a refinery out there. Go figure. I love and miss California badly, so that won't really piss me off too much.Bored with all the computer, business related stuff. Ready to earn a living writing music. Even if its a pathetically meager living!

Fun post Anne! It is good to know how everyone makes the pieces of the life puzzle fit. I'm a software engineer for IBM. I've been developing Web applications since the dot-com days and love my work. It's a real challenge to balance the music thing with it though. I've spent most of this year preparing for a certification exam so I've been very dormant musically. I take the exam tomorrow and I have vowed to go back full-tilt into writing again regardless of the outcome of my test result. Rich

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!
