Wow thanks for starting this thread Anne, really interesting what everyone is doing. SO many people with lots of talents and skills...programming...building houses...rescuing big biusiness...damn... I'm one of those irresponsible people who's never actually had a "real" day job... Have done a lot of temping, plus a part time gigs as a music teacher and recording engineer/production assistant.Basically I spent many years working as little as possible (while still being able to pay my modest bills) so I could work on writing music as much as possible, which eventually paid off and led to me being a full-time composer/songwriter. Producer too I guess although I really only produce my own stuff. It was a tough slog there for a while, being in your mid thirties and hovering around the minimum wage level, but boy it was worth it. Plus I never even had to resort to eating cat food...I think this is probably the best job possible, at least for me...although to be fair I really don't have much to compare it to! I know I'm lucky...

Great thread y'all... I"m full time in my studio working on my own music which I perform as well or work on others helping with production. From time to time I'll do sound tech stuff... I've also got a background in newspaper management, talent agent, film/tv acting and Christian music pastoral work including other ministry type stuff which is very interrelated with what I do now musicially...
Music is like oxygen, you can live without it but not for very long...
