If the name doesn't work for you feel free to drop my name to the ladies (hehehehe)
It's hard to make a comeback when you haven't been anywhere

Come to think of it, Paul wasn't McCartney's first name either was it? James was his Christian name if I recall correctly. Wonder how Jimi McCartney would have gone down with the ladies? By the way Ern. I saw Macca on his last tour and I found it... very disappointing. Not that it was bad. The band were technically excellent and I am somewhat a fan of Abe Laboriel (the drummer) but there was a distinct feeling of something lacking. Too much of Macca's ego and too little of himself in the performance. The only moment of absolute truth and beauty at the gig I saw was 'Let it Be'. By comparison, I saw Lou Reed around the same time and it was an astonishing, transcendental experience. The contrast between the two was like night and day. It took me a while to figure out what the difference was but eventually I came to this realization: Reed is still invested in his art. He's still a work in progress. McCartney, although he has probably the greatest canon of songs of any living songwriter, is just a high quality karaoke machine. All just IMO, of course! Btw, Ram is a very lovely and underrated record

Now that Arafat is gone, maybe the Palestinians will elect Ringo their new president! Wow, talk about off topic! Ern P.S. I forgot "Martha My Dear." Paul, er, Jimi's piano part is brilliant!

I must've seen Paulie about 10 years ago, so maybe he's going down hill. --- Abe Laboriel! That big sucker sure can slam those tubs! BTW, I was trying to figure out who he was on another forum recently, because of how impressed I am of his rocking drumming!Ern

LOL!! Sorry! I just relate the two gigs coz I saw 'em at around the same time. One just triggers memory of the other! Did you know Arafat played on 'Baby You're A Rich Man'? Actually, your last post sounds like a script for a Beatles movie!

Hey!.....I said I would take Jimi...er...I mean Jeannie! But my first choice would have been mary ann. Ok...back to the music! I noticed nobody chose "Hey Jude"...the only song that the ending is longer than the body of the song. What about "The queen's a pretty nice girl"?Anyhoo...you can add Help! to my list.Drew...I mean..Ringo....you can take Samantha from Bewitched....or Lori from the Partridge family...

Alright, I promised you guys the title of a FANTASTIC Beatle book, especially if you're both a big Beatle fan and a recording engineer/musician like me:"The Beatles Recording Sessions" by Mark Lewisohn published by Harmony Books (Crown Publishers). It's "The Official Abbey Road Studio Session Notes, 1962-1970."I've read it cover to cover, and still go back if I have any question about who played what, who wrote what, session players, George Martin's arrangements, etc. etc. It really is fascinating. Treat yourselves to a New Year's present! Ern

Ern,Would I be right in saying McCartney played drums on 'Dear Prudence'? The reason I ask is that although the drumming overall is fine, the hats sound very stiff. It's as though the part was played by a talented amateur. Just curious.

Hmmmm... I don't know if McCartney played drums on Dear Prudence, but he did play it on The Ballad of John and Yoko which was recorded by only John and Paul.... That's one of my fav tunes, esp. Paul's harmony as the song progresses.OK.... NOW BACK TO THE VOTING!!! Casey
