Do you mind if we hear the updated version?

Not at all, it would be really nice if you took the time. I have changed a bit on strings and added some percussion in addition, I compressed a lot less.

Big improvement! I think you should start the piano at the end after the previous cymbal has faded completely. It would probably make for a better edit point.

Hi
I can't claim any expertise in this genre other than either I like it or not. I listened to the entire piece. I like it! I understand it's not done, but it sounded marvelous to me. My visual was a soldier coming home on bus, staring out the window, a survivor....
Thanks for the movement..

Re: Can someone give me feedback on this orchestral cue?
Hi Tore-
Sorry I’m a little late to the party here - I’ve only listened to your Revised track. It’s very well done!
I’m guessing you’ve spent a lot of time on this track, so my comments might be more relevant to pieces that you work on for the future.
If you're creating a track that isn’t for a specific listing for for a specific film cue, I would recommend adding in some areas that would make it easier for an editor to cut your music in/out. For instance at 1:08 at the end of that big, beautiful phrase, I would add an extra measure of rest, to let the last phrase end, before you being your next idea, laying in new instruments. You could do this again at 2:11, before the final dramatic push. An editor might visually look at your wav file and see it builds - which is awesome! For lots of tracks, it will be helpful for them to look to see where the music breaks - build for 0:45, break, build for another 0:45 etc.
Your string melody is very pretty. If you deliver this track to a library or supervisor, you’ll want to make sure you have a mixed version with the melody muted, in case an editor wants to use this track but finds the melody competing with dialog.
Have you created any film trailer pieces (typical 3 chapter-type)? Taxi sometimes runs those listings. It’s seems like this epic style would really lend itself to that format.
Best of luck!
Jerome

Re: Can someone give me feedback on this orchestral cue?
Thank you for taking the time to listen and give me constructive comments. Yes, I have spent about 40 hours on this, but I have to do the work that is needed to do this optimally. I agree with you regarding editpoints. It's entirely possible to create a version without lead and with several editpoints. In addition to what it is today. I've seen that Taxi has had orchestral listings quite often so i had that in mind when i did this track. I have just begun to look into epic trailer style. It's probably my next instrumental project. I've made some with piano and a small string orchestra, so this was my first full orchestral track. Thanks again for your comments and og course its nice to know that so many liked what they heard
Thanks Jerome

Hey, my suggestion would be to look at adding a countermelody in the cellos....as a call and response to the violins strings part

Also, something else which is effective in orchestration is to pass the melody around the different sections of the orchestra to add variety.....let the french horns play it, or the cellos, or half and half....
Just some suggestions
