Got back Taxi review on track today. Got a nine on melody line, 7 and 8 on the production, mix and structure. But sample library I've used is not good enough. "from the review "Tore, thank you for sending this in. Nice work. The writing is very lovely and memorable. So ...... the samples. They sadly do not sound that good to me. Look into EastWest Hollywood Strings and Brass, LA Scoring Strings, Albion Spitfire Strings, Strings and Brass Cinesamples, etc- there's a lot of good stuff out there now. The downside is thats it is expensive and only you can Decide if it is worth it to you two get or not. But to me, this track would be unusable due to the sound quality. If you really wanna do orchestral music, I recommend getting a good library or two and really learning how to take advantage of what it has two offerings. Watch tutorials and practice! "
I think I've done what I can with Session Strings and 8dio so it's probably no way around to buy one of those expensive Libraries. I've used almost every trick in the book to get session strings to sound genuine. Regarding Brass so I understand very well that the small samples in Contacts are not good enough.
This has been very good learning and I'm not going give up orchestral music
Interesting. I thought 8Dio stuff was amazing but don't own any. I just bought the 4 part Albion series. But I still think it's a lot on how you layer, articulate and give expression to the instruments. An art in itself! keep at it!!
8Dio is perfectly acceptable as samples go. I'd suggest ditching Session Strings and spending a *LOT* of time learning how to use 8Dio effectively. If you're only using Adagietto as opposed to Adagio then you are more limited but they are still perfectly capable of delivering a top-notch, broadcast quality sound. (I own and use both Adagietto and Adagio).
I bought 8dio for only a few weeks ago so I was probably a bit quick to say that I've done what I can with the program. I found it a bit heavy to use and struggling a bit to get it to sound good, but it's just practice that makes me better
Session Strings I've used a lot and feel quite comfortable using it, but it does not fit into orchestral music. Some of the reason why my song does not sound good enough is enough that brass, woodwinds and percussion is pretty bad samples. Another reason is my level in this genre, I have to practice more.
I heard some of your songs cruciform, they are wonderful. Do you use Adagietto on track Serenata Solaris?
It is 35% discount on all products from 8dio until august 15. nice to know if someone goes with thoughts on buying anything.
Yep, no orchestral samples will sound authentic straight out of the box. It takes time to learn the quirks of each library. With Adagietto you'll want to spend time practicing with the different articulations to know what sounds best for a given passage, recording the dynamics control data and making sure there is sufficient overlap of midi notes when writing legato passages.
Thanks for your kind words. "Serenata Solaris" is live strings.
Shores of Eternity sounds really nice. I gonna buy some more stuff now. Tomorrow i buy Cineperc, Cinebrass, Cinewinds(all Core) and one from 8dio, but im not sure what fits best with adagietto. Do you have any suggestions Cruciform? I'll think it be either Agitatos Grandiose bundles or Adagio Violins, but i really need some help to choose right. The style i like most is the soaring, slow orchestral.
