Thanks for listening and some really good suggestions. Yes absolutely. Until yesterday i had violas on the two first round and changed it to violins, but i should try cellos from the start and maybe let the horns do the lead in the end of the track. Thanks for good suggestions

Dear Tore,
Bless you for the hours you have put into your compositions and good luck to you!

I am a guitarist who likes to play along with the sounds in my head so I can appreciate the level of composition you have attained...
Have you seen the video "The Shift" staring Dr. Wayne Dyer? It is worth watching...

I have listened to all of the pieces you have up on sound cloud my favorite is "Daydrifter"

"Stay" is very good...I do agree that strings need that humanizing effect and evidence of bow technique...

What I like about Yo Yo Ma or Itzhak Perlman is that their bowing is recognizable and the signature of their craft...
Much like Mark Knopfler's finger picking being integral to his sound...

I think it is sellable as a cue without any further changes but any tweaks you do to sweeten it more is not wasted time if you enjoy doing it...

Thanks Mjfrog for listening to all my tracks. I havent seen this movie, but i sure will. This is my first orchestra track (have done some small ensemble cue's) so everthing that could help me on my way is good. I think i am done with "stay " I have done some small changhes and now i send this to mastering in a couple of days.:-) thanks for all feedback on this, it helped me a lot.

Tore I listened to your track, it's heartwrenchingly beautiful ! you have a real talent for melody and drama !
There's one odd thing, from :48 to around 2:00 where the big build starts, the high register strings sound fake and its
mostly because there is no "attack" i.e. the notes in that section (and only that section for some reason) start with
absolutely no natural dynamic for the attack and each note sounds the same making it a bit lifeless. If you can figure out how to add
that element, then this would be totally pitchable. Wonderful composition !

Cheers, diane

Hi, Diane. Thanks for listening and give me constructive feedback. I thougt i was done with this one, but i read a very good tutorial from a guy who had made it the movie music business. And i also came across some good expression map for my new 8dio library, so i needed to try out some more things on this track. I use session strings pro on the lead and 8dio adagietto on the rest (some brass from kontakt) You are totally right about what you hear Diane. I used Bow noise and attackfrom session strings from the start where 8dio does all the other strings, But from the point where the session strings lead starts the Bow noise and attack seems to got lost in the mix. I have to do something about that. Thanks for pointing that out for me Diane. So still work in progress a few days more. Thanks again for taking time Diane. Really appreciate it :D

You are probably very tired of this thread, but to those who are interested;
I've worked some more hours with this and come forward to the latest version before mastering. I've used Session strings, 8dio Adagietto and some from contact and Action strikes (only timpai). I placed long notes on a separate track to get them to sound best with proper articulation. I've used the expression on're absolutely everything. I have used their own tracks on bow noise / attack to get it more visible in the mix (on the high notes they disappeared earlier). I have also used a whistle far behind in the sound of lead violas and Violins to supply more oxygen and less synthetic. I've also added one "answer" of Violins at the last part to get more dynamic. I see there are number 25 on the this latest mix min. It is therefore 25 time I think this is done :) Well I have realized that I will never be completely finished with this, but this is the best I can based on my level in this genre right now. Listen if you want and give feedback :D :D

Tore I listened again tonight, this is 100000 x 's better, it's actually flawless ! There is a very "LIVE" sounding sheen to your
whole mix and the strings are absolutely shining. Beautiful build/ lift there and your edit point before the piano
theme comes in is absolutely brilliant. Now this beautiful melody has the pristine quality of a pro mix to present it so very well. You have done
a marvellous job, congratulations for sticking with it and really bringing all the beauty out, it really is a remarkably beautiful track.

Beautiful music.

The one thing that jumps out to me as an instrumentalist is that the horn playing the melody at 0:42 through the 2 minute mark needs more pauses for breaths at the ends of phrases. Sing along with it, and when you stop to take a breath, think about the musician playing this needing to do the same. It can be a quick breath, but long legato passages have to have brief pauses somewhere, or else your player will pass out. :-) Even a quarter note before a new phrase is enough. A great example is just before the cymbal crash at 2:28. That was perfect from a breathing standpoint.

As to the melody line, at first I thought it was an oboe, then perhaps a piccolo trumpet. Hard to isolate it based on the mix/eq

Again, gorgeous music. So many potential uses. Can't wait to hear your next project!

Thanks for great feedback Diane and Paulie. Really appreciate it:)
And thanks for comments on soundcloud:)

Yes Paulie, i agree on what you say about the brass, it need some more pauses. This is an easy fix so i do that before i send the song the mastering. Thanks for the tip:)
Ive used (bass)Trombone, Fugelhorn, Trumpet from Kontakt library and some brass from my Jupiter 80 keyboard. I will buy Cinebrass or the new Brass library from Native, but for now this have to do.
(Cinebrass is just fantasic) I know it could be hard to hear what instrument playing the melodyline through the whole song. I use Cello at the start, then Violas and after the build , all the brass and Violias take the lead. Violins also do some melody at the end. I use Fugelhorn with the piano after the orchestra fades out.

Thanks again for listening and feedback. Really nice to get comments from great musicans like you are :D
